Role Summary/Purpose:

Lead Health & Wellness Credit Acquisitions strategy development efforts. Drive acquisitions credit strategies, initiatives, enhancements, projects and new tools for the CareCredit markets. Work closely with business and portfolio leadership to establish strategic direction for each health care market. Work cross functionally to ensure risk strategies are performing as expected. This position is currently remote, where you’ll be work from home, but may be required to work in one of our offices in the future or occasionally commute to one our offices for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and tracking of portfolio, product and client level strategies that minimize both Synchrony’s and the CareCredit markets’ credit risk, while continuing to grow the portfolio and balancing the risk-reward tradeoff

  • Proactively make recommendations for tactical and strategic action plans for execution within Credit Risk and other functional areas as needed by collecting and analyzing data from various sources to identify portfolio risks and opportunities

  • Initiate and lead acquisitions credit strategy initiatives as well as enhancement projects using the latest development techniques and test/control processes

  • Actively seek out vendors of new and innovative tools to mitigate credit and fraud risk; partner with Fraud team to assist in evaluations as needed

  • Ensure functionality, processes and strategies support both business and client objectives

  • Ensure effective pre-implementation strategy reviews and model validations are executed

  • Implement credit monitoring and tracking systems designed to quantify the differences in effectiveness of challenger strategies

  • Drive enhanced strategies, using champion/challenger learnings to mitigate credit losses while driving growth

  • Provide Acquisitions Risk Strategy development support for new products, channels and other enterprise-wide projects

  • Evaluate multiple data sources to evaluate and uncover insights and integrate into acquisition strategies

  • Ongoing communication including updates to senior leadership and delivery on strategic initiatives

  • Work with portfolio teams to ensure consistency in business plans

  • Leverage and incorporate breadth of portfolio acquisitions risk management experience into value-added best practices

  • Perform data analysis to support advanced analytics initiatives

  • Independently extract and analyze data from multiple technology systems/platforms and related data sources

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience in strategic risk management role, or in lieu of a degree, 9+ years’ experience in strategic risk management

  • 3+ years’ experience in a risk strategy development role

  • 3+ years SAS programming experience (proficient level)

  • Hands on experience with statistical tools such as SAS VA, Model Builder Decision Tree, and Knowledge Studio

  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Desired Characteristics:

  • 3+ years of experience performing data analytics and analyzing trends

  • 3+ years of advanced programming with C++, R, and/or Python • 3+ years working with large data sets

  • Exposure to big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Sqoop, etc.)

  • Experience with machine learning, AI, and/or statistical algorithms

  • Leadership experience operating at a strategic level as part of a cross functional team

  • Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact with and present to SYF senior leaders

  • Master’s Degree or MBA with advanced analytic focus, or equivalent advanced degree

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is 135,000.00 - 230,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
