What is the VP of Operations role?
We are seeking a fast-moving, hands on, VP of Operations to join our executive leadership team and report directly to the CEO. The VP of Operations will have enterprise-level ownership of operational performance, responsible for building and scaling a high-performing operating model that delivers world-class patient outcomes while driving margin, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
This role is both strategic and deeply execution-oriented. The VP of Operations will define how the company operates at scale—translating strategy into execution through clear accountability, operating rhythms, and performance management—while also rolling up their sleeves during periods of rapid growth, change, or transformation. The ideal candidate thrives in complexity, is comfortable making tradeoffs at the executive level, and has experience operating at start-up speed.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own and evolve the company’s end-to-end operating model, ensuring it scales effectively across clinical, operational, and corporate functions.
- Partner closely with the CEO and executive team to translate corporate strategy into annual and multi-year operating plans, with clear goals, metrics, and accountability.
- Lead operational performance management, including defining KPIs, establishing operating cadence (weekly, monthly, quarterly), and driving executive-level decision making through data.
- Accountable for operational and clinical performance, including cost structure, gross margin, capacity planning, and member/patient experience.
- Build, lead, and develop senior operational leaders across clinical operations, workforce operations, credentialing, scheduling, and compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives that measurably improve quality, efficiency, scalability, and financial outcomes.
- Partner cross-functionally with Clinical, Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and People to ensure operations are aligned with product capabilities, regulatory requirements, and growth plans.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify performance gaps and lead enterprise-level change initiatives to address them.
- Oversee multi-state, regulated clinical operations, ensuring compliance with licensing, credentialing, accreditation, and legal requirements.
- Represent Operations at the executive level, including board-level discussions as needed.
What you’ll bring
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, with significant time in senior operational leadership roles within healthcare, health tech, or scaled consumer services.
- Proven experience operating at the VP or equivalent level, with ownership of complex, distributed operations.
- Demonstrated success scaling operations through high-growth phases, ideally in regulated, multi-state environments.
- Experience leading large, remote and/or call-center-based workforces with strong performance management systems.
- Strong track record of P&L ownership, margin optimization, and operational transformation.
- Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence across functions and at the board level.
- Highly analytical and data-driven, with the ability to balance metrics with sound judgment.
- Strong people leader with experience building leadership benches and operating through change.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MHA, or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
