Position Summary
The Workflow & Automation Specialist serves as a technical consultant and business development partner focused on advancing laboratory automation and workflow optimization initiatives for customers across the Americas. This role combines scientific expertise, automation knowledge, and commercial acumen to help customers improve research and operational outcomes through innovative life sciences solutions.
As a key member of the Consumables & Instruments (C&I) organization, this individual will work closely with strategic customers, commercial sales teams, applications specialists, and business unit leaders to identify new growth opportunities, support complex sales engagements, and influence future product innovations. The role requires a deep understanding of life science workflows, laboratory operations, and automation technologies, along with the ability to translate customer needs into scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Strategic Customer Growth
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within existing and prospective strategic accounts.
- Engage customers to understand current laboratory workflows, automation challenges, and future operational objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by recommending workflow and automation solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, scalability, and scientific outcomes.
- Support expansion opportunities across instrumentation, consumables, automation platforms, and related solutions.
Technical Sales Support & Consultation
- Partner with commercial sales teams to support customer engagements throughout the sales process.
- Provide subject matter expertise during customer meetings, technical discussions, workshops, and executive presentations.
- Assist in solution design and workflow assessments to address customer research and operational requirements.
- Support evaluation programs, technical demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, and implementation planning.
Voice of Customer & Innovation Leadership
- Act as a key liaison between customers and business unit teams.
- Capture customer feedback, emerging workflow trends, and unmet market needs.
- Collaborate with product management, marketing, R&D, and engineering teams to influence product roadmaps and future innovations.
- Represent customer requirements and market opportunities to help drive development of next-generation automation solutions.
Industry Leadership
- Stay current on emerging life science technologies, laboratory automation trends, and competitive solutions.
- Participate in industry conferences, customer workshops, and scientific meetings as a representative of the organization.
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives and help position the company as a trusted partner in laboratory workflow optimization.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in life science research, laboratory operations, laboratory automation, scientific instrumentation, or related technical roles.
- Hands-on experience working in research, biopharma, biotechnology, academic, or clinical laboratory environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of laboratory workflows and automation technologies.
Required Skills
- Strong technical and scientific background with the ability to understand and articulate complex workflow solutions.
- Experience supporting research programs, laboratory operations, or automation initiatives.
- Ability to engage effectively with scientists, laboratory managers, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders.
- Strong presentation, communication, and consultative selling skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, technical, and product development teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with laboratory automation systems, robotic platforms, sample management solutions, biobanking technologies, or related life science tools.
- Experience supporting technical sales, business development, applications, product management, or customer success functions.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cell and gene therapy, biorepository, or translational research workflows.
Travel: Approximately 50% domestic and international travel as required

United States Base Compensation: $141,000.00 - $169,000.00The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications), qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
