There are many things companies can do to make their teams feel appreciated, but listening to them is one of the most impactful ones — especially when it comes to perks and benefits. We spoke to leaders at local companies about the new perks they are proudest to offer, and how employee feedback factored into their creation.

Paylocity provides cloud-based software to businesses that allows them to efficiently manage things like payroll, time tracking, benefits and other HR functions. Kara McKenna, senior manager of compensation and benefits, said a combination of employee feedback and data drove the company’s decision to offer adoption assistance.

What new perk or benefit are you most proud to offer?

We are excited to add adoption leave for 2019, which helps put families first. This was a natural follow-up to our paid parental leave, which provides up to six weeks of full pay for new parents following the arrival of a new child — either through birth or adoption. Adoption services can be costly, and we want to help support adoptive parents by offsetting their expenses with pre-tax assistance of up to $5,000 per adoption.

We take feedback from our employees to heart, whether through Glassdoor reviews or internal feedback channels. This feedback, along with benchmark data, helps support new perks and benefit offerings.

Pangea Money Transfer is a fintech platform that allows consumers to send money internationally to over 15 countries. Director of HR Carolyn Montgomery said the company listened to employee feedback in a variety of ways, which led to a number of new perks being enacted.

The Pangea app gives customers the ability to put more of their hard-earned dollars in the hands of their loved ones, and we wanted to do the same for our employees. This year, we started offering 100 percent employer-paid premiums for healthcare, dental and vision, along with employer contributions to health savings accounts. By taking this financial burden off of our employees, they take more money home to their families every paycheck.

In January, we surveyed the team and met with employees one on one to learn what types of benefits and perks they’d like to see. This resulted in a new gym reimbursement program, a more flexible work-from-home policy, and more generous parental leave policies.
