Payline Data gets scooped up by Pineapple
Payment solutions provider Payline Data has been acquired by Pineapple Payments, a payment processing technology company based in Pittsburgh, PA. Payline was founded in 2011 and has grown rapidly, appearing on the 2016 and 2017 Inc. 500 lists. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. [Press release]
The fall funding season starts strong
Chicago tech companies raised $90 million in new funding in October. The month’s biggest round belonged to GTreasury, which raised a whopping $42 million. Envoy also made noise with a $21 million Series C, but on the whole October funding was characterized by smaller seed and Series A rounds. [Built In Chicago]
Chicago startups welcome new leaders

Three Chicago companies make LinkedIn’s Top Companies | Startups list
G2 Crowd (20), Uptake (26) and Sprout Social (36) made LinkedIn’s first-ever Top Companies | Startups list, which ranks the country's 50 most in-demand startups. The list took into account employee growth, job views and applications and LinkedIn member engagement with the startup and its employees. RoomIt announces major partnership
RoomIt just announced a partnership with the Expedia Affiliate Network, a B2B partnership brand owned by Expedia, which will give users access to EAN hotel rooms and rates. RoomIt is a Chicago-based startup that makes it easier for business travelers to find and book hotel rooms while giving companies increased oversight and control over travel costs. [Press release]
ParkWhiz brings parking reservations to Alexa
ParkWhiz just released a new skill for Amazon Alexa that allows users to find, reserve and pay for parking using Alexa-enabled devices. While other parking apps have created Alexa skills, ParkWhiz is the first to allow users to do more than just find an open space. [PR Newswire]
ShipBob expands into Dallas
ShipBob, a shipping logistics provider for small businesses, has opened a new fulfillment center in Dallas — the company’s first in the Southern United States. The company announced plans to open new fulfillment centers after raising a $17.5 million Series B in June. The new fulfillment center is expected to create over 100 jobs. [PR Newswire]
SpotHero wins Chicago Innovation Award
SpotHero was one of the big winners at the 16th annual Chicago Innovation Awards. The company was one of 530 nominated and took home an award for its HeroConnect platform, which allows third parties to integrate SpotHero into everything from apps and equipment to cars.
