San Mateo-based Vyond, a tech startup that develops video editing and creation software, announced Tuesday it will open a regional office in Chicago.

Vyond’s Chicago office will open on December 5 in Fulton Market, a neighborhood just west of Chicago’s downtown that is already home to several other tech companies including GoogleHologram and Bartesian

Vyond’s video creation software helps companies create training and educational videos in a timely manner thanks to its artificial intelligence-powered tools that can efficiently translate text, create narration and even animate characters. According to the company, over 14,000 organizations have used its software to create content for their employees.

Initial plans for Vyond’s Chicago office include hiring 20 new positions for its sales, marketing and customer success departments. The office will be overseen by Chicago native Van Diamandakis, who was recently appointed as the company’s chief marketing officer.

Vyond has a number of clients based in Chicago, and as such decided to open its first regional office in the Windy City to support those clients.

“Enterprise companies everywhere — including so many great firms in the Midwest — are obtaining tangible business benefits from the use of smart video creation software from Vyond,” Diamandakis said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to helping our customers achieve their training, educational and communications goals even more quickly by providing them locally-based support and expertise from our Fulton Square location.”
