Fullstack Academy Launches Deferred-Tuition Women’s Track at Chicago Campus

Nearly two years after acquiring Chicago’s The Starter League and launching their own Chicago campus, Fullstack Academy has officially announced the Grace Hopper Track at Fullstack Chicago.

The key element of this track is a deferred-tuition model exclusively for women. It draws on the success Fullstack Academy has seen since 2015 with its New York-based Grace Hopper Program, the nation’s first women’s coding school to require tuition payment only once a graduate has secured full-time work.

In addition to its unique tuition model, the new Grace Hopper Track at Fullstack Chicago also offers women-only community-building opportunities within Fullstack Academy’s top-of-the-line co-ed learning environment.

Co-founder David Yang says, “We’ve heard so many women in the Chicago area express interest, but aren’t seeing those women apply—and that situation looked familiar. We’d seen that pattern before on our New York campus prior to our establishing Grace Hopper. So finding a way to bring Grace Hopper to Chicago seemed the logical next move.”

The Grace Hopper Track at Fullstack Chicago is a first step toward a fully realized Grace Hopper Program on the Fullstack Chicago campus some time in the future. Meg Duffy, Dean of Grace Hopper, adds, “We’re so excited to be launching the Grace Hopper Track at Fullstack Chicago. The city has such a vibrant group of women in its tech community, and we’re really proud to offer them an affordable and inviting pathway to a new career.”

The new track is already accepting applications for Fullstack Academy’s February cohort, which runs through the end of May, and full tuition is $17,610. Students on the Grace Hopper Track pay a $3,000 deposit, then pay back the remainder of their tuition in installments only once they’ve accepted a full-time offer in their field.
