These 5 Chicago Tech Companies Raised the Most Funding in March

See which companies raked in the most venture capital last month and what they plan to do next.

From healthtech and insurance to a celebrity mentorship platform, these five Chicago tech companies raised a combined $223 million in March. Find out who led the pack and which companies are using the fresh capital to hire. 

 

#5. $8.5 million, March 15

Protégé connects talent with coaches, experts and celebrities to provide mentorship and advice. The Chicago-based company raised an $8.5 million round co-led by Sequoia Capital and TQ Ventures. Other investors include celebrity names such as Lionel Richie, DJ Khaled, Doja Cat’s manager Lydia Asrat, Jay Z’s Roc Nation and more. 

 

#4. $14 million, March 3

CancerIQ, a company that uses family history, behavior and genetic information to help predict cancer, gained $14 million in a Series B round. The funding will be used to expand the number of medical networks it works with as well as expand the platform.  

 

#3. $48.5 million, March 21

TimeDoc Health’s platform allows doctors to monitor patients between appointments. The company raised a Series B funding round led by Aldrich Capital Partners that will be used to grow its partnerships and expand beyond the 35 states TimeDoc Health currently serves. The company also plans to hire 20 to 40 people each month.

 

#2. $70 million, March 17

This latest Series C round brings dscount’s total funding raised to $81 million since it launched in 2011. Dscout’s platform helps companies conduct research with the right tools, knowledgeable individuals and experts. The Series C will be used for the development of its product and tripling its workforce.  

 

#1. $82 million, March 1  

Kin Insurance raised a Series D round totaling $82 million last month and has another $18 million in committed investments. Kin Insurance is a digital D2C home insurance provider. It will use this latest round to expand its licensure to operate in other states. Kin Insurance currently operates in California, Florida and Louisiana.
