Teams at Illinois Secretary of State

Serves as primary legal counsel to the Driver Services Department, Illinois State Archives, and BAIID Division. Advises leadership on legislation, administrative rules, compliance, statutory interpretation, hearings, investigations, and complex legal matters. Conducts legal research, prepares opinions and reports, represents agency interests, liaises with government and external entities, and supervises legal staff. Requires Illinois bar admission, legal practice experience, extensive knowledge of vehicle and administrative law, an Illinois driver’s license, and extensive travel to Springfield.

Performs entry-level legal research, investigations, administrative hearings work, and preparation of pleadings, orders, reports, legislation, and regulatory documents. Advises public officials, attorneys, witnesses, and interested parties on administrative and regulatory matters. Reviews petitions and notices, conducts depositions and limited negotiations, and supports legal and administrative processes within the Illinois Secretary of State’s office.
