Interface with ASIC design teams, foundries, and OSAT vendors to transition products into production. Analyze yield and statistical test data, investigate failures and manufacturing incidents, improve production efficiency, and resolve process or design issues. Support design-for-manufacturing reviews, wafer utilization, supply-chain quality, and on-time delivery. Maintain manufacturing specifications, process documentation, and best-known methods.
ASIC Operations Engineer
Interface with the ASIC design team to deliver ASIC products into production utilizing Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partner.
Monitor/improve ASIC yields and drive closure of manufacturing incidents.
Drive manufacturing efficiencies to maximize ASIC output.
- Supply Chain & Fab Relations: Work with foundries and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) vendors to ensure product quality and on-time delivery
- Yield Optimization: Analyze statistical test data to identify manufacturing limiters, wafer anomalies, or particle contamination
- Failure Analysis (FA): Perform failure analysis on defective processes to isolate process or design flaws
- Partner with process, equipment, and design engineers to implement solutions to improve, maintain, or troubleshoot production lines
- Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM): Partner with physical design teams pre-tapeout to review layout to maximize wafer utilization
- Create and maintain specifications, process documentation, and best-known methods
- Education: Minimum B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related semiconductor
- Tools: Proficiency in statistical data analysis, automated test equipment (ATE) logs, Wafer Grind and Dice, SQL, SAP
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, fabless supply chains, and wafer sort/final test protocols
