Job Description

The Associate Data Engineer II will build, maintain, and optimize data infrastructure - like databases and data pipelines - that address cross-functional critical business needs. This role is expected to improve existing methods and processes by using various languages to pull and manipulate data, develop and maintain ETL pipelines, implement quality control and monitoring processes to maintain accurate data flows, maintain comprehensive documentation of process designs, test results, and pipeline configurations, etc. This hire is expected to demonstrate proficiency in information technology engineering, including data warehousing.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and develop data solutions to address business challenges.
  • Demonstrate proficiency across a range of technologies related to programming languages, data integration, data warehousing, data visualization and data analysis.
  • Responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing data infrastructure.
  • Ensure data is collected, processed, and stored efficiently and securely.
  • Integrate different data sources and create the foundations on which analytics and data science can operate.
  • Understand the broad objectives of projects as well as position's role in achieving objectives; modify approach when required.
  • Escalates issues to ensure execution success and keeps stakeholders informed through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Learn, understand and master new methods and technologies, and act as a resource or mentor for others.
  • Produces and maintains required technical documentation associated with work products.
  • Adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree - preferably in Computer Science or Data Science - plus 2 years of experience, Master’s degree with 0 years of experience. 
  • Programming skills in Java, Python, R, or SQL.
  • Prior experience with data engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interacting with APIs to extract data.
  • Hands-on experience using large language models and machine learning algorithms.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML in clinical or pharmaceutical contexts.
