Role Overview

The Middle / Back Office Developer designs, builds, and maintains internal systems that support trade processing, operational workflows, reporting, and firm-wide data visibility. This role partners closely with Operations, Trading, Accounting, Risk, and Technology teams—including regular interaction with senior leadership—to deliver scalable solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency across post-trade processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain internal tools, dashboards, and reporting systems supporting Operations and business teams.
  • Partner with C-level executives, traders, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-impact, scalable solutions.
  • Develop backend services and APIs supporting the full trade lifecycle, including trade capture, reconciliation, P&L, settlements, and accounting feeds.
  • Improve system performance, reliability, and observability through testing, monitoring, automation, and production support.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong experience with Python and backend web development frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders, including direct collaboration with C-level executives, traders, and Operations, Accounting, Risk, and Technology teams.
  • Experience translating business requirements into clear, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of databases and data modeling (SQL preferred).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building internal tools, dashboards, and operational reporting systems.
  • Exposure to AI or machine learning, particularly applied use cases such as automation or intelligent reporting.
  • Experience in trading, financial services, or other high-reliability, time-sensitive environments.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or margin calculation systems.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $120,000 – $180,000, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, Geneva Trading offers a competitive total rewards package, including a comprehensive benefits program.
