About the role

Responsible for being the liaison between a business unit and Corporate Finance for all accounting-related activities. This includes, but are not limited to, ICFR documentation and testing, account reconciliations, journal vouchers, and Workday assistance. Provides SME assistance on projects where accounting is a key component.

Key Accountabilities:

Accounting Support

  • Provides accounting guidance to operations team to ensure accounting rules are followed and that the reported financials are accurate.

  • Acts as the Workday SME and assists with journal vouchers and other Workday related items to ensure accuracy.

  • Completes account reconciliations and assists staff members to clear out-of-balance accounts and ensures an understanding of the reconciliation process.

  • Partners with business unit Operations and Corporate Finance on banking related activities such as wire transfers, ACH and NSFs.

  • Resolves issues with Treasury when cash is out of balance.

  • Completes quarterly variance analysis.

  • Depending on business unit, may manage stop loss accounting process.

  • Serves as a SME and provides support on various accounting-related projects.

System Improvement and Efficiency

  • Understands administrative systems, including data flows and financial processes, and recommends improvements.

  • Identifies efficiencies and automations that could reduce costs within the accounting functions.

  • Collaborates with the business to ensure efficient processes and explore automation opportunities.

ICFR Controls

  • Understands control items related to accounting and reviews test results quarterly to ensure processes are being followed.

  • Collaborates with business unit Finance to assess the need for new controls or modifications to existing ones.

Training and Support

  • Assists, provides solutions, and trains business unit employees on finance-related tasks, including setting up new vendors, submitting invoices, and creating journals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, and 4 – 6 years of related experience.

  • Prior experience in an operational accounting role.

  • Account reconciliation experience.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Strong Excel skills.

  • Strong Communication skills (both verbal and written).

Preferred:

  • CPA.

  • Knowledge of Workday.

  • Aptitude to learn business ops systems.

The compensation range for this role is (based on the corporate location in Lake Forest, Illinois):

$71,520.40 - $103,307.70 per year

The final salary offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus. We understand that compensation is an important factor when considering a new opportunity, and we strive to provide a competitive salary within the market.
