Job Description:

Summary

Ryder is reinventing how businesses access the trailers they need, when they need them. Through Tapped Trailers, our asset-sharing platform, we connect companies with excess trailer capacity to trusted businesses nearby, turning underutilized equipment into new revenue and helping our customers run leaner, smarter fleets.

We're looking for a Commercial Trailer Sales Manager to help drive this initiative forward. You'll be a founding voice in a small, close-knit team building something genuinely new inside a company with the scale and resources to back it. If you love the energy of a startup but want the stability and support of an established organization behind you, this is a rare chance to have both: real ownership over your market, a fast-moving team you'll work with closely, and a compensation plan where your success translates directly into what you earn.

Compensation & Commission Potential

Base salary: $80,000/year, plus uncapped upside through a commission plan.

  • Commission structure: 0.75% on revenue from existing accounts, 2.25% on revenue from new accounts
  • Commission is capped at $80,000/year (~$6,666/month maximum)
  • Commission is paid out monthly
  • Realistic first-year commission for someone starting on an adopted book of business is approximately $1,000-$2,000/month
Essential Functions
  • Partner with the Sales and Marketing team to drive new customer on-boarding in launched and pilot markets
  • Visit and set up prospects on the Tapped Trailers platform
  • Verify proper requirements are met (i.e. insurance/DOT)
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues related to the platform or transactions, and propose solutions for DOT violations, accidents, breakdowns, etc.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction around rental transactions in multiple markets by holding sessions with customers to receive and incorporate feedback
  • Monitor trailer inventory and customer profiles to ensure accuracy
Additional Responsibilities
  • Work with the broader team on strategic planning and presentation of results to Ryder's Executive Team
  • Monitor and maintain yield pricing in target markets
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Education

Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Transportation, or equivalent experience.

Experience

Two (2) years or more of experience in Sales, Marketing, or Operations, with a proven track record of onboarding new customers. Trailer or equipment industry experience is a plus, though not required.

Skills & Knowledge

Advanced-level knowledge of Ryder's rental product line.

Travel

10-20%, typically about once a quarter for a local sales blitz to meet the team in local markets.
