Job Description

This role sits within Motorola Solutions’ Global Communications & Media team and supports the Head of North America Communications in driving public relations, brand awareness, and regional communication strategies. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic go-getter with a strong passion for storytelling, a sharp eye for detail and a proactive mindset. This position may span both public safety and commercial enterprise markets, supporting product communications, customer storytelling, media relations execution and content creation. 

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Cross-Portfolio Communications Support: Partner closely with the North America Communications Team to support regional PR campaigns, product launches and thought leadership across both public safety and commercial enterprise business units.

  • Customer Storytelling: Uncover, research and write compelling customer stories that bring to life the real-world impact of Motorola Solutions’ technology portfolio across North America. 

  • High-Impact Content Creation: Serve as a primary writer for a wide variety of public-facing materials, including press releases, news features, media pitches, spokesperson briefing docs and social media copy.

  • Media Relations Execution: Pitch regional, tech, and industry trade media, build and manage targeted media lists, coordinate interview logistics and track journalist coverage.

  • Measurement, Monitoring & AI Workflows: Oversee daily media tracking, campaign analytics, and sentiment coverage reports. Apply modern generative AI and media intelligence tools to speed up research, list building, and content draft workflows.

  • Event & Trade Show Support: Support PR logistics, media staffing and content amplification for key North American trade shows, regional events and customer summits.

Specific Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional Writing & Editing: Outstanding narrative and drafting skills; able to shift tone easily between technical, corporate and human-centric story styles.

  • Enthusiastic Go-Getter Mindset: High agency, proactive drive and eagerness to take initiative, learn new markets and tackle projects independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Media Relations & Pitching Familiarity: Direct hands-on exposure to media relations concepts and pitching journalists.

  • Agility & Resourcefulness: Able to juggle multiple tight deadlines, adapt quickly as news cycles or business priorities shift and maintain high standards of quality.

  • Digital & AI Tool Proficiency: Working knowledge or eagerness to adopt generative AI tools, media monitoring platforms and content management systems to streamline daily work.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate seamlessly with marketing, sales, product managers and external customer teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or related discipline.

  • 3+ years of professional communications, public relations, or media experience (agency or corporate context preferred).

  • Demonstrated portfolio of exceptional corporate writing samples (press releases, pitch letters, customer features, articles).

  • Proven exposure to media relations execution, media monitoring and outreach campaigns.

Target Base Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. 


Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 3+ years of professional communications, public relations, or media experience (agency or corporate context preferred)

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
