About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

Base is building a new kind of power company, and we're growing fast. Each new market means more homeowners hearing about Base for the first time, and more people deciding whether to build their careers here.

As our Content Lead, you'll shape how both groups get to know us. About half your time goes to member content: the website, the blog, and the emails and texts that help homeowners decide to join. The other half goes to our employer brand: telling the stories of the people building Base so great engineers, operators and field teams want to work here.

This role is for someone who loves writing and is great at it. You'll have a lot to work with: a product that keeps homes running through outages, a team building hardware, software and an energy company at the same time, and plenty of stories that haven't been told yet.

What You'll Bring
  • A portfolio that shows you're an excellent writer. You make complex topics clear and simple without talking down to the reader.

  • A love of writing. It's the thing you're best at, and you'd do it even if no one asked.

  • Experience owning content end to end at a fast-growing company, a consumer brand, or a publication.

  • An audience-first habit. You use interviews, data and research to understand who you're writing for before you start.

  • A working knowledge of how content gets distributed across web, social and email.

  • The ability to ship volume without losing quality: seven or more pieces a month, plus lifecycle copy.

What You'll Do
  • Own content across the customer acquisition journey, from the website and blog to email, text and social.

  • Lead Base's employer brand content and tell the stories of the people building the company.

  • Set the voice and editorial standards the rest of Base writes to.

  • Build the content distribution strategy

  • Partner with lifecycle, growth, recruiting, product and design to turn their work into content people want to read.

  • Talk to members and teammates to find the stories worth telling.

About the Team

The Marketing team owns how homeowners first hear about Base, come to understand it, and decide to join. Most of the people we reach have never thought about where their power comes from until it goes out. Our job is to make a new kind of power company feel simple, credible, and obvious. We work side by side with sales, product, and design, and our results directly decide how fast Base can grow into new markets.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
