If you have great attention to detail, love building process & systems, and are highly analytical, structured, and collaborative, this is your role!

You'll be responsible for leading headcount planning & budgeting, managing holistic expense & cash forecasting, supporting strategic initiatives (including the path to profitability), and developing highly scalable financial foundations.

Core Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead planning, budgeting & reporting  (50%)
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop accurate forecasts and financial models for all headcount & vendor investments, and establish core reporting packages for holistic functional and departmental budgets.
    • Lead the bi-annual corporate budgeting process, ensuring visibility and accuracy into assumptions for costs across all departments.
    • Support Leadership & Finance Team visibility into resource allocation, ensuring spend is aligned with financial targets and short- and long-term strategic priorities.
    • Partner with Accounting to provide timely analysis & insights into period-over-period and actual vs. forecast performance.
  • Design and build financial processes that are scalable and sustainable (30%)
    • Continuously evaluate our financial processes and systems: identifying areas for improvement, implementing best practices and recommending enhancements to streamline financial operations.
    • Scope, roadmap, and implement financial planning software (Pigment, Adaptive) that improves efficiency and visibility for plan setting & ongoing variance reporting.
    • Establish and rollout policies & processes to enable seamless headcount and vendor management.
  • Partner with People, Engineering, Product, Business Development, Operations, and other cross-functional partners to enable better business decisions  (20%)
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for budgeting across the organization.
    • Work closely with other teams to build ROI-based business cases, and evaluate tradeoffs for new investments, aligning team needs and company priorities.

Impact and Success Indicators

Where you’ll make an impact in the first 90 days:

  • Serve as the primary budget lead for Two Chairs to various external stakeholders and vendors; manage and organize contracts, renewals, and responses in a timely and accurate manner
  • Partner with the key cross-functional stakeholders, such as People, Operations, and technical teams, to build effective, efficient systems for the company’s long-term growth; conduct due diligence and analysis on new systems and processes as appropriate
  • Partner with Accounting to deliver cash management and bank reviews
  • Support the finance team and broader organization with ad hoc projects

Where you’ll make an impact in the first year:

  • Lead a regular cadence of end-to-end budget reporting and analysis to provide better visibility for key stakeholders
  • Embed with the finance team to improve company margin by identifying areas of opportunity to build in efficiencies, aligning spend by department to revenue and growth outcomes
  • Identify, plan, and implement a robust planning system that can scale rapidly with our business
  • Manage and develop our Senior Financial Analyst, as a key contributor to a high performing FP&A team
  • Build a long-term plan for Planning & Budgeting at Two Chairs, including team growth and tech enablement, to support our 3+ year growth plans

  • Knowledge of financial systems and processes, and an eye toward continuous improvement; exceptional attention to detail and a sense of pride in driving operational excellence
  • Experience with budgeting, vendor management, expense forecast vs. actuals reporting, and/or data tools
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once and build thoughtful, structured processes from the ground up
  • Adaptable and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with high ambiguity and limited structure; bias toward action to create and build processes in a scalable way
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate actionable conclusions to various stakeholders
  • Highly collaborative with a team-first mentality, willing to roll up sleeves and dive in where needed; comfortable wearing many hats and managing competing priorities
  • Desire to work in a high-growth, mission-driven startup environment
