Job Description

Getting the right product to the right place — on time, complete and undamaged — is how we keep our promises to customers. As Director, Distribution & Transportation for our Security business, you'll own the strategy behind that promise: the multi-site distribution network, the carrier partnerships, and the long-term direction of how we move product.

This is a seat with real scope. You'll lead the team that runs the network, sit at the table with commercial and operations leaders, and own the service performance our customers feel every day.

Position location – This will be a hybrid-based position within driving distance of the following location: Deerfield, IL. (Flexibility to work from home Mondays and Fridays.)

 RESPONSIBLIITIES:

  • Establish and execute the distribution, transportation, and network strategy for the Security business, aligning logistics capabilities with growth objectives, customer expectations, and operational requirements.
  • Lead a multi-site distribution network, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations across all facilities.
  • Own end-to-end transportation strategy, including carrier selection, contract negotiations, rate management, and ongoing performance oversight.
  • Develop and optimize the transportation and distribution network to improve service levels, reduce costs, enhance scalability, and support evolving business needs.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service performance through reliable on-time, in-full, and damage-free delivery execution.
  • Partner closely with Commercial, Operations, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Procurement, and Supply Chain leadership to drive cross-functional initiatives and business results.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including service, cost, inventory flow, transportation efficiency, carrier performance, and warehouse productivity.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and supply chain best practices to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead annual logistics and transportation planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Manage third-party logistics providers (3PLs), warehouse partners, and transportation vendors to ensure performance expectations and contractual obligations are met.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, systems, and automation opportunities that enhance visibility, productivity, and customer experience across the distribution network.
  • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing team, creating organizational capability, succession plans, and career development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation, safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations regarding network performance, strategic opportunities, risks, and investment priorities.
  • Set the distribution and logistics strategy for the Outdoors business and shape its long-term direction.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership experience across transportation, logistics or supply chain.
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field — or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading a multi-site distribution network.
  • Experience managing carrier relationships, including negotiations and performance management.
  • A track record of leading teams, influencing stakeholders and driving cross-functional initiatives.
  • Accountability for service metrics — on-time, in-full and damage-free delivery.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%.
