Job Description:

The Escrow Closer with Old Republic Title reviews and analyzes purchase agreements, title commitments and closing instructions in order to determine the most effective and efficient means to professionally perform real estate closings. Conducts and facilitates real estate closings with borrowers, sellers, and/or their representative(s). Responsible for accuracy and completing disbursement of funds, prepare and submitting documents for recording and returning lender packages.  Closer is responsible for completeness, accuracy and proper disbursement of all closing funds and accounting of all funds.  Closes commercial and residential transactions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages the closing transaction from start to conclusion.

  • Reviews title commitments, decides how to cure any title problems and how to comply with any specific instructions.

  • Determines how to prepare settlement statement in accordance with the terms of the purchase agreement, lender’s closing instructions, attorney closing requirements and applicable federal and state rules and regulations.  Prepares settlement statement accordingly.  Reviews and complies with instructions as to requirements for funding. 

  • Responsible for conducting a professional closing which includes following closing instructions; make sure all funds have been receipted and are good funds; confirms proposed disbursements match settlement statement; the file is balanced; all names and legal descriptions are shown correctly on each document; and file is fully balanced.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all documents are recorded timely, lien payoffs completed and lender package sent to lender as applicable. 

  • Independently develops unique and effective strategies to retain current customers and obtain business from new customers.

  • Must be able to independently make time-sensitive choices in matters that have a significant financial impact on the Company during the closing process.

  • Must be able to professionally and diplomatically handle and resolve any complaints or disputes surrounding the entire closing transaction.

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining guidelines and/or implementing new procedures to ensure quality, operational efficiently and performance levels.

  • Assist in the development and maintain direct production capabilities and vendor networks capable of providing accurate, reliable and timely valuation product.

  • Promotes the company through participation in public relations and events at various trade and industry functions; participates in customer events throughout the region. Participates in company focus groups, task forces and panels as requested to help modify or develop company practices and policies.

  • Ability to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

  • Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the day. 

  • Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships with peers, supervisors, outside customers, and vendors.  Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees and customers.   

  • All other duties as assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3-5+ years experience in a real estate closing environment

  • Must have valid notary commission

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools and Internet Explorer

  • Requires aptitude for figures and accounting functions

  • Excellent problem solving abilities

  • Must have a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance coverage

The estimated pay range stated represents the typical pay range for this position or similarly employed employees or employees performing substantially similar work. Factors which may be used to determine the actual pay rate may include, but are not limited to, education, training or experience; seniority; merit and work performance; quantity or quality of production; regional differences in compensation; differences in local minimum wages, or ability and effort.

Position's Pay Range:

$26.00 - $31.25/hourThis position is typically eligible for bonus-based incentive compensation, at the Company’s discretion.
