Senior client-facing growth operator; hands-on opportunity shaping and pursuit acceleration

Role summary: The Group Director, Enterprise Growth is a senior hands-on growth operator responsible for moving live opportunities forward. The role supports opportunity hunting, triage, account mining, discovery sprint design, pursuit acceleration, solution validation and commercial framing. This is not a support or coordination role; it is a client-facing role for experienced operators who can shape work and progress revenue opportunities.

Role purpose

The Group Director, Enterprise Growth helps turn early signals into structured, actionable and commercially credible ES opportunities. The role works with MDs, EDs, GCLs, agencies, client teams and ES capability leaders to qualify opportunities, build opportunity narratives, support discovery and accelerate live pursuits.

This role is intended for experienced client-facing talent who can operate independently, manage senior stakeholder interactions, develop clear growth materials and connect client needs to ES capabilities. It is a strong fit for candidates with a blend of consulting, technology, agency, client services, strategic account, sales or transformation experience.

Core responsibilities

  • Support opportunity hunting: Work with senior growth leaders to identify ES growth signals across priority accounts, WPP relationships, client teams, market triggers and direct enterprise opportunities.
  • Run disciplined triage: Help assess whether an opportunity has a clear client need, ES relevance, value potential, stakeholder access, urgency, winnability and next action.
  • Shape live opportunity materials: Develop opportunity briefs, problem statements, stakeholder maps, account views, discovery questions, value hypotheses and pursuit narratives.
  • Progress pursuit acceleration: Support discovery meetings, workshops, pitch preparation, proposal direction, client-ready POVs and immediate follow-up actions.
  • Bring domain intelligence: Apply knowledge of relevant areas such as media, creative, CRM, commerce, CX, content, data, AI, platforms, marketing technology, managed services or operating model transformation.
  • Connect the right expertise: Work with ES capability leaders, solution experts, commercial leads, partner teams and delivery SMEs to clarify the opportunity and the required activation path.
  • Create client-ready clarity: Turn ambiguous inputs into clear, usable, high-quality material that can support senior client and internal conversations.
  • Identify repeatable signals: Capture patterns, proof points, cases and market themes that can help the broader team move faster on similar opportunities.
  • Operate commercially: Maintain a clear view of opportunity value, stage, next action, conversion risk and required decision points.

Candidate profile

  • Experienced client-facing operator with the maturity to work directly with senior internal and client stakeholders.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity; able to structure problems and move work forward without waiting for full instruction.
  • Commercially minded and outcome-focused, with an instinct for what can become revenue and what should not be pursued.
  • Strong writer and thinker who can translate complex transformation topics into sharp, usable opportunity materials.
  • Collaborative, practical and proactive; able to work across GCLs, agencies, consulting, technology, platform and ES capability teams.

Experience and background

  • Typically 10-12+ years in strategic account management, growth, consulting, technology transformation, digital transformation, client services, business development, enterprise sales, media, creative, data, CRM, commerce or CX.
  • Experience supporting or leading client conversations, opportunity qualification, discovery, proposal development, pitch preparation or pursuit acceleration.
  • Strong understanding of how large organizations identify, fund and buy transformation, technology, marketing or customer experience work.
  • Ability to navigate complex internal organizations and connect multiple capabilities around one client opportunity.
  • Experience in a consulting firm, agency network, technology business, systems integrator, digital transformation firm, media network, WPP operating company or enterprise client environment is valuable.
