As our HIM Associate II, you will deliver exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare professionals, and payors while upholding the utmost confidentiality for all patients. Your daily tasks will involve preparing, scanning, and organizing medical record information to ensure the completion of health information and data. Your role plays a crucial part in maintaining accurate and confidential health records. The successful candidate must be flexible with working schedule covering two HIM sites and have high attention to detail and strong data entry skills.

This is an onsite position at Ascension IL Alexian Brothers Elk Grove Village.

To thrive in this position, you will need to be detail-oriented, have strong detail skills, organized, and passionate about handling sensitive information. You will use your understanding of Health Informatics (HI) to run an error analysis and recommend solutions. Exercises independent judgment related to the retrieval of health information.



Here’s what you will experience working as an HIM Associate:

  • Chart check-in, reconciliation, and follow-up of missing documentation. Prepping, scanning, indexing, and quality control validation of all medical records.
  • Ensuring that the resolution of health record deficiencies is in accordance with
  •  regulatory compliance, legal standards, and reimbursement activities.
  • Assist with Physician relinquishment as needed, faxing, reporting, auditing.
  • Assist with DNFB functions in obtaining documentation needed for coding/billing.
  •  Performs timely daily prepping and scanning of the patient medical record, maintaining high quality standards.  Able to meet and/or exceeds productivity and quality standards.
  •  Performs quality audits verifying the accuracy of the legal medical record, navigating between multiple medical systems to verify the completeness of the medical records.
  •  Performs a variety of general office duties, filing, printing, faxing, answer incoming phone calls and assisting customers.

Required Skills:

  • High degree of professionalism
  • Discretion in handling highly confidential protected health information
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple HIM job functions
  • High attention to details and data skills in Microsoft Word, Excel or Google Sheets, and assisting on running report.  

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $17.60 - $25.25 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
