Job Description
People Operations Advisor
What You’ll Do
- Provide customers (new hires, employees, people managers, people leaders, executives, and HR) consistent and timely guidance, support, responses / explanations covering a variety of topics across the employee lifecycle related to pre-employment / onboarding, background checks and employment verification, talent movement, cyclical HR activities, audits, reports, learning, recruiting, terminations, employee records, and other transactions across Discover's core HR systems.
- Leverage knowledge base and other available information to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
How You’ll Do It
- Develop a broad understanding of all HR programs, policies, and best practices / procedures in order to advise and resolve customer inquiries ranging from single questions to highly detailed issues.
- Complete a variety of back office related activities across the employee lifecycle, including but not limited to pre-employment / onboarding, background checks and employment verification, talent movement, cyclical HR activities, audits, reports, learning, recruiting, terminations, employee records, and other transactions across Discover's core HR systems. Consider impact of HR related transactions on employee pay/payroll processing and coordinate activities and data maintenance accordingly.
- Engage, consult, and partner with internal partners across HR Technology, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Training + Development, and other HR functional areas and third party providers to support efficient research and issue resolution.
- Periodically complete audit and reconciliation of data accordingly and leverage workflow tools to initiate and monitor completion on all activities in work lists. Update People Operations process and procedural documentation.
- Conduct periodic monitoring of end-to-end processes to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Work with leadership to identify and address compliance issues and risks are brought to leadership. Partners with Human Resources Consultants (HRCs) and HR Centers of Excellence (COE's) to understand business objectives and initiatives. Adjusts strategies and programs to support these objectives.
Qualifications You’ll Need
The Basics
- 4+ years HR Operations or other HR Related function (including onboarding, background checks, HR shared services, training, HR generalist support, communications, etc.)
- In lieu of education experience, 6+ years HR Operations or other HR Related function (including onboarding, background checks, HR shared services, training, HR generalist support, communications, etc.)
Bonus Points If You Have
- Bachelors’ Degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or Communications
- 4+ years Customer service experience or HR Generalist experience
- 6+ years HR Operations or other HR Related function (including onboarding, background checks, HR shared services, training, HR generalist support, communications, etc.)
- SHRM Certification within First Year
- Knowledge of Workday and Workday reporting
