The Enterprise Architect is responsible for integrating hardware, software, and network components to create cohesive systems. This role
involves recommending solutions that will advance the organization’s technical infrastructure. The position also includes mentoring and
providing enterprise level guidance to technical and architectural teams within the organization.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement integrated systems that align with organizational goals. Evaluate and recommend technical products that enhance Humana’s technical solutions. Provide guidance to technical and architectural staff. Understand and align with departmental, segment, and organizational strategies and objectives, recognizing their interconnections with related areas. Make informed decisions regarding work methodologies, especially in ambiguous situations, while seeking direction and guidance when necessary. Adhere to established guidelines and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.

 

• Advocate for our agile development approach and our North Star architectural goals.

• Engage in enterprise technology modernization initiatives, collaborating with application teams and IT stakeholders to deliver value through effective design and implementation.

• Optimize resources and costs by implementing solutions that leverage EA standard design patterns.

• Collaboratively map business vision and strategy to value streams, business capabilities, and functions.

• Work with segment and domain architects, engineers, and leadership to document current and future state architectures, value streams, and domain capability models.

• Rationalize digital assets to enhance maintainability and innovation while reducing risk, complexity, and operational costs.

• Lead application modernization initiatives, including the re-architecting of legacy mainframe, standalone, and web-based applications to align with value-driven enterprise architecture standards.

• Foster innovation and evolution of cloud-based services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) in collaboration with segment teams and Enterprise Shared Services.

• Maintain best practices, standards, and policies, and update them based on the latest industry trends, ensuring they are communicated effectively through user-friendly documentation.

• Develop Cost Models/Dashboards for applications based on resource utilization and licensing costs, assisting application teams in determining Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and planning for future needs.

• Evaluate new technologies and platforms for continuous improvement of digital assets, developing architectural standards to leverage them.

• Select and effectively utilize appropriate cloud services, technologies, tools, methodologies, and solutions to ensure robust architectures that align with the organization’s strategy and long-term goals.

• Serve as a consultant to application teams, guiding them in creating enterprise-grade applications that adhere to governance standards (e.g. data use, cybersecurity, observability, residency, etc.).

• Conduct various co-development Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) with applications and technical capabilities to ensure alignment with architectural principles, resulting in reusable reference implementations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; or a related field.
  • Less than 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and testing software applications.
  • Experience as an architect or senior technical lead for large IT projects spanning multiple enterprise systems.
  • Key knowledge of all Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities, including ideation, design, implementation, validation of functional and non-functional aspects, and Day 2 operations.
  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise architecture pattern development, cloud-native architectures, and agile delivery.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade technical integrations involving a variety of modern technical capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Professional-level solution architecture certification in Azure, GCP, and/or AWS.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cloud technologies, cloud migration, or enterprise architecture.
  • Experience with various CI/CD quality drivers and implementation approaches.
  • Prior experience in enterprise-level project leadership and consulting.
  • Knowledge of healthcare business domains, including Medicare, Medicaid, Group, Specialty, etc.
  • Development level knowledge utilizing the Power Platform suite is highly desired.
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, or similar languages.

Additional Information

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$89,000 - $121,400 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
