Launched in 2011, we brought a B2C-like experience to the B2B industry, and continue to be at the forefront of digital innovation at the intersection of technology and distribution. We have rapidly grown to over $1 billion in annual revenue and we’re just getting started!

About the Role

Zoro is redefining digital merchandising by transforming how customers discover, evaluate, and purchase products. Our goal isn’t just to offer breadth—it’s to create intuitive, confidence-building experiences that drive long-term loyalty.

As the Digital Merchandising Manager of Category Experience, you will lead the strategy and execution of onsite experiences within key product categories. You’ll translate deep customer and product understanding into intuitive, high-performing experiences that make it easy for customers to find exactly what they need.

This role is critical to driving conversion, increasing customer confidence, and building long-term loyalty through better product discovery.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and optimize the end-to-end customer experience within assigned product categories, including browse, search results, and product discovery
  • Develop and oversee the execution of category-specific merchandising strategies grounded in customer behavior, product complexity, and business priorities
  • Improve how products are structured and presented by driving:
    • Clear and intuitive taxonomy and navigation
    • High-quality attributes and effective filtering experiences
    • Logical product grouping and assortment presentation
    • Strong product relationships and compatibility signals
    • Content enhancements that support confident decision-making
  • Identify opportunities for category-specific optimizations and run tests to validate impact
  • Generate and prioritize hypotheses for category-specific overrides to sitewide logic; test, measure, and iterate based on performance
  • Partner closely with the Global Experience Strategy team to align category needs with sitewide standards and inform improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Category Management, Product Information & Enrichment, Digital Product, and Marketing teams to execute initiatives
  • Analyze performance data and customer insights across the full journey—from search and browse through checkout and post-purchase—to identify friction points and uncover new growth opportunities
  • Contribute to building repeatable playbooks and best practices that can be scaled across categories
  • Support a test-and-learn culture by documenting results and sharing insights across the team
  • Act as a thought leader on how customers shop within complex product categories and how to simplify that experience

What You Bring

  • 4–7+ years of experience in ecommerce, digital merchandising, category management, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of how customers shop and navigate within product categories
  • Experience optimizing onsite experiences, including navigation, filtering, search results, or product presentation
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze performance and translate insights into action
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Category Management, or Data teams
  • Familiarity with taxonomy, attributes, and product data structures
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Our Culture

Zoro was founded in 2011 with a simple idea: make it easy for businesses to get the tools, parts, and supplies they need to keep things running. We've grown by staying curious, moving quickly, and solving everyday challenges in smart, practical ways. Backed by W.W. Grainger and inspired by our endless assortment business model, we’re on a clear path toward our next big milestone: $2 billion in revenue—and beyond.

At Zoro, we don’t just follow a playbook—we help build it. You’ll get to work on real problems with a supportive team that shares ideas freely, learns from each other, and celebrates wins together. Our culture is grounded in values that guide how we show up every day: Winning & Learning Together, Being Customer Obsessed, Being Transparent, and Taking Ownership. We don’t have all the answers, but we’re always asking good questions.

Zoro’s culture has been recognized by Fortune, Best Places to Work, and Built In Chicago—but the recognition we care about most comes from our team members, who make this place what it is.

We also know that flexibility matters. Our hybrid work model gives you space to focus and the flexibility to live your life — asking team members to be onsite at least two days a week. Our Chicago HQ (right above Ogilvie Transportation Center in the Accenture Tower) is always open and ready for connection, collaboration, or just a good cup of coffee.

At Zoro, we’re growing fast toward big aspirations — and we’re continuously excited about the new challenges we get to solve together.
