The Senior Associate Microsoft Dynamics 365 Technical Consultant / Developer designs, builds, tests, deploys, and supports technical solutions across Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management. The role translates functional and business requirements into supportable technical components, including extensions, integrations, data migration assets, reports, workflow automation, and AI-enabled features.
This is a delivery leadership role at the work-package level, not an architect or people-manager role. The Senior Associate receives an assigned scope, determines how to use available resources, owns technical tasks and documentation through completion, provides guidance to junior team members, and makes fact-based recommendations to project and practice leadership.
What Success Looks Like
• Produces secure, maintainable, testable Dynamics 365 solutions that meet documented acceptance criteria and follow extension-first design practices.
• Owns a defined technical work package from clarification and design through build, test, defect resolution, deployment support, and knowledge transfer.
• Explains technical scope, dependencies, options, risks, and trade-offs clearly to functional consultants, client technical teams, and engagement leadership.
• Anticipates issues, maintains accurate RAID and delivery documentation, and escalates early when architecture, scope, quality, security, or timeline decisions are required.
• Improves team capability by conducting code walkthroughs, sharing reusable patterns, and coaching Analysts, Senior Analysts, and Associates.

Key ResponsibilitiesDynamics 365 Development and Extensibility
  • Design and develop X++ extensions, Chain of Command implementations, event handlers, batch processes, data entities, forms, reports, workflows, and other custom components for Dynamics 365 F&SCM.
  • Apply “extend, do not over-customize” principles and Microsoft-supported extensibility patterns; document design rationale and upgrade considerations.
  • Develop medium-to-complex components, conduct unit testing, participate in peer reviews, remediate defects, and support regression testing.
  • Assess technical feasibility of custom requirements and recommend standard configuration, extension, Power Platform, integration, or Azure approaches as appropriate.
  • Conduct technical code and design walkthroughs with internal and client teams, with architect or workstream-lead oversight when required.

Integration, Data, and Reporting
  • Build and support integrations using OData, Data Management Framework, Business Events, custom services/APIs, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, and API Management.
  • Develop and validate data migration packages, data entities, mappings, transformation logic, reconciliation controls, and error-handling procedures.
  • Develop or support SSRS, Electronic Reporting, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric-connected reporting solutions where aligned to the solution architecture.
  • Document interface contracts, field mappings, dependencies, exception handling, monitoring, and operational support requirements.

Power Platform, AI, and Automation
  • Build Power Apps, Power Automate flows, Dataverse components, and Copilot Studio solutions that extend or connect Dynamics 365 business processes.
  • Implement AI-enabled features and agentic workflows under approved architecture, including tool calls, retrieval, workflow steps, guardrails, human review points, logging, and escalation paths.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly for design, coding, testing, documentation, and quality review; validate outputs and protect client and firm data.
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve delivery through automation, reusable patterns, automated testing support, and documentation generation without weakening engineering judgment or governance.

Quality, DevOps, and Lifecycle Management
  • Use Azure DevOps or GitHub-based source control, branching, pull requests, build and release pipelines, and deployment controls aligned to project standards.
  • Drive a systematic quality approach covering coding standards, peer review, unit testing, integration testing, security validation, performance considerations, traceability, and release readiness.
  • Support Dynamics 365 environment and release activities through Power Platform Admin Center and Lifecycle Services where applicable, including deployable packages and post-deployment validation.
  • Support cutover planning and execution, production readiness, hypercare, incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and transition to support teams.

Delivery and Client Collaboration
  • Articulate detailed technical scope for integrations, conversions, reports, extensions, and other custom objects; manage supporting documentation to completion.
  • Define and own technical project tasks, allocate work within a small work package, validate required skills, and provide status and risk feedback to project leadership.
  • Partner with functional consultants to understand business processes and create cohesive technical designs aligned to client needs and project architecture.
  • Prepare technical specifications, process flows, design documents, test plans, deployment notes, support guides, and knowledge-transfer materials.
  • Deliver client-facing demonstrations, design walkthroughs, training, and knowledge transfer appropriate to the assigned workstream.
Required Qualifications
  • Role has flexible living locations across US or Canada
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Typically 7–9 years of enterprise application development or technical consulting experience, including substantial hands-on work with Dynamics AX 2012 and/or Dynamics 365 F&SCM.
  • Experience contributing to at least two full-lifecycle ERP implementations, upgrades, rollouts, or major enhancement programs, with ownership of technical deliverables.
  • Hands-on X++ development experience and working knowledge of Dynamics 365 extensibility, data entities, security, reporting, integrations, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience producing technical specifications, code, test evidence, deployment documentation, and knowledge-transfer materials in a structured delivery methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with occasional assistance, lead a small technical work package, and coach junior resources.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and ability to collaborate with US and global teams across time zones.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Power Platform, Dataverse, Azure integration services, Microsoft Fabric or Power BI, and Microsoft Copilot or Copilot Studio.
  • Exposure to finance, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, asset management, project operations, or related ERP processes.
  • Experience with AX-to-Dynamics 365 modernization, One Version servicing, legacy customization remediation, or global/multi-entity deployments.
  • Experience with automated testing, performance troubleshooting, application monitoring, secure integration patterns, or release automation.
