Latin Enrichment and After School Program (LEAP) is a new program of Latin 360 supporting Middle School students at Latin School of Chicago. We’re hiring a few new staff members for this new program.
Each L.E.A.P. (Latin Enrichment and After School Program) team member is responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful environment during the transition period following school dismissal. This position includes monitoring school hallways and supervising a quiet workspace/homework room to support students engaged in academic or individual quiet activities. The staff member enforces school expectations, ensures appropriate student behavior, and supports Latin’s mission of “providing an environment that creates a life-long love of learning and supports students as they pursue their passions."
Areas of Focus:Hallway Supervision (3:30 PM – 3:45 PM):- Monitor hallways, stairwells, and other common areas to ensure all students are promptly exiting or transitioning to authorized after-school activities.
- Dismiss unauthorized or lingering students from hallways after 3:45 PM in a respectful, clear, and supportive manner.
- Communicate calmly and clearly with students about behavioral expectations and school policies regarding hallway use after dismissal.
- Monitor the first-floor commons area and quiet work room to ensure they remain safe, respectful, clean, organized, and appropriately supervised spaces for students waiting after school.
- Encourage positive social interactions while reinforcing school expectations for behavior, noise level, and respectful use of shared spaces.
- Redirect students as needed to maintain an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and conducive to both socializing and nearby academic activities.
- Address behavioral concerns promptly and communicate any significant incidents or safety concerns to Latin 360 Admin and Latin MS Admin.
- Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-5:30pm
- Pay begins at $17.00 per hour
- Must be at least age 18.
- Prior experience working with middle school students in an educational, recreational, or youth supervision setting
- Ability to manage groups of students with a balance of authority, empathy, and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Must pass a background check and meet all school requirements for working with minors.
