Position Summary

Ryan Specialty is seeking a Observability Engineer to drive the strategy, implementation, and optimization of observability platforms across our enterprise infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring system reliability, performance, and proactive incident detection through advanced monitoring and analytics.

What will your job entail?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, deployment, and management of observability tools including DatadogDynatraceAzure Monitor, and Splunk.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and reports to provide actionable insights into system health and performance.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and DevOps teams to define observability standards and best practices.

  • Drive integration of observability platforms with CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native environments.

  • Analyze telemetry data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization.

  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of observability across the organization.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to the observability stack.

  • Ensure compliance with security and governance policies in monitoring implementations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure monitoring, observability, or site reliability engineering.

  • Hands-on expertise with DatadogDynatraceAzure Monitor, and Splunk.

  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (especially Microsoft Azure) and hybrid environments.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and data manipulation.

  • Experience with log aggregation, distributed tracing, and metrics collection.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • On-site in Williamsville, NY-Chicago, IL- Kansas City, MO

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in observability tools or cloud platforms (e.g., Azure Administrator, Dynatrace Professional).

  • Experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Familiarity with ITIL or incident management frameworks.

  • Knowledge of AIOps and machine learning applications in observability.

The target salary range for this position is $92,000.00 - $115,000.00 annually.

The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
