Our internships span a variety of business areas and are open to rising seniors in undergraduate programs. Designed to support both personal and professional growth, the 10-week summer program runs from early June through mid-August in one of our four corporate offices in the Chicagoland area.
The Operations Engineering Intern will work directly with rotational engineers and focus on projects assigned from upper management relating to the Medline warehouses. The scope of work could include work measurements and standards, process improvements, cost-benefit analysis and justification, and other assigned tasks as needed. Project lengths will vary from small daily activities to large scale projects spanning the duration of the internship.

Job Description

Possible projects could include:

  • Analyzing and correcting bottlenecks in a Medline warehouse
  • Creating and implementing new standards.
  • Slotting multiple warehouses to improve travel time per line
  • Improving cubic utilization within the warehouses
  • Providing on-site support during technology (robotics) go lives.

Qualifications:

  • Background in Engineering, Industrial or Systems preferred
  • Junior standing with 3.0 minimum GPA preferred
  • Strong leadership abilities and demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement principles is a plus
  • Unrestricted permanent US work authorization

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$23.25 - $33.75 Hourly

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.

Our benefit package includes 401(k) contributions, paid time off, as well as access to the Employee Assistance Program, Employee Resource Groups and the Employee Service Corp for interns and temporary roles.
