Description

Step Up to the Plate as Our People Operations Generalist!

Location: Woodridge, IL (Hybrid)
Department: People Operations
Pay: $75,000-$90,000

At Home Run Inn, we believe pizza should do more than fill you up—it should lift you up.

For nearly 100 years, we've been bringing people together over authentic Chicago tavern-style pizza. Behind every great pizza is an incredible team, and behind every incredible teammate is a hiring experience that makes them feel welcomed from day one.

That's where you come in.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping others, solving problems, and creating an employee experience that makes teammates feel welcomed, supported, and valued from their very first day, and every day after.

If you're the kind of person who can confidently navigate employee relations one minute, celebrate a work anniversary the next, and still find time to improve a process before lunch, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be a trusted partner for teammates and leaders across our company, helping create a workplace where people can do their best work.

Be a Trusted Resource

  • Serve as the first point of contact for teammate questions and guidance.
  • Support leaders with employee relations, coaching, and policy interpretation.
  • Conduct employee relations intake and assist with workplace investigations.
  • Build positive relationships while maintaining fairness, consistency, and confidentiality.

Create Great Employee Experiences

  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation to ensure every new teammate feels like part of the family from day one.
  • Support recognition, engagement, communication, and culture initiatives.
  • Help teammates navigate benefits, leaves of absence, accommodations, and return-to-work processes with empathy and care.

Keep Things Running Smoothly

  • Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal leaves, and other leave programs.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with employment laws.
  • Assist with unemployment claims, workers' compensation, employment verifications, and audits.
  • Help maintain HR systems and employee data in Paylocity.

Make Things Better

  • Manage the myHR inbox and provide timely support.
  • Partner on People Operations projects and continuous process improvements.
  • Support recruiting and onboarding during periods of high hiring.
  • Coordinate training logistics and employee communications.

You're Probably a Great Fit If You...

  • Love helping people and building relationships.
  • Stay calm when juggling multiple priorities.
  • Can have difficult conversations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Enjoy solving problems and finding better ways to do things.
  • Believe details matter.
  • Know when to listen, when to coach, and when to take action.
  • Want to help create a workplace where teammates genuinely enjoy coming to work.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of Human Resources experience.
  • Experience with employee relations, benefits, leave administration, and HR compliance.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws including FMLA and ADA.
  • Experience supporting managers in a multi-location environment is a plus.
  • HRIS experience (Paylocity preferred).
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
