Job Summary
This position provides key administrative support to the plant manager and performs a variety of office duties relating to the efficient operation of a Vulcan Materials production facility. Responsible for the processing of all daily and monthly accounting related information in a timely and accurate manner as required. This position will assist the location manager with various analyses of monthly financial statements and other duties as assigned. Ensures timely and accurate updates to various plant management reporting systems, pulls reports and conducts analysis of data to include identification of variances. Acts as the liaison with Division and Corporate departments (benefits, payroll, HR, etc.).
Essential Functions
• Perform a variety of daily plant administrative duties as required by plant manager or divisional accounting including purchase orders, payables, time cards, fuel usage and receipts, bank deposits, tracking costs and running local reports for plant manager.
• Prepares month, quarter and year-end closing information based on current closing schedule; fuel inventories, fixed asset changes, equipment rentals, month-end accounts payable accruals and location production reports. Prepares detailed analyses of monthly margin and cost statements, to include researching and identifying variances as requested by location management.
• Ensures timecards are accurately completed, coded and approved timely to meet payroll closing schedules. Brings trends/concerns to plant management to include attendance tracking.
• Ensure plant systems are updated timely and accurately. This includes EMS, Plant Management, VPC Calculator, VCommerce, Gensuite, KPI, Lab Check, etc.
• Reviews, prints, and distributes preventative maintenance items, creates work orders, and addresses preventative maintenance service inquiries.
• Tracks p-card expenses, reclassing as needed, and ensuring timely and proper close out at month end. May support others in completing the month-end close of their p-cards.
• Develops mid and end of month cost projects to include variance explanations.
• Will research, document and resolve location business related problems as needed. Ensures plant manager is kept up to date. Present findings to the appropriate manager where and when needed.
• Acts as an employee advocate to liaison with HR, Plant Accounting, Safety, Health and Environments, Payroll, Benefits, etc. 
• Supports the development of the site annual operating and capital budgets, as well as the monthly production planner.
• Serve as a contact for the plant. Receive guests and answer phones directing questions or problems to the appropriate individual. Serve as backup for some scale clerk duties when necessary.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

Salary Range. This is a salaried position. The salary range for this role, including the regional supplement, is between $47,000 - $52,000 annually. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data. 

ResponsibilitiesEducation
• High School diploma is required
• 2 years of college is preferred
Experience
• Minimum of one year in bookkeeping, accounting or related experience is required.
• Experience in an administrative or clerical role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel, as well as G-Suite Docs and Sheets is required.
• Knowledge of common office practices, procedures, and use of office equipment are required.
• Must possess strong organizational skills, be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills and customer service skills.
• Must possess a fundamental understanding of accounting principles.
• Must possess basic math skills focusing on accuracy.

• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
• Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential.
• Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology
• Must be able to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to legally and safely operate a motor vehicle
• May have to do bending and reaching to file personnel folders and other materials.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
• May involve exposure to conditions of dust, dirt and noise.
