Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Act as the technical SME for our enterprise API ecosystem, leading engineering efforts across Apigee OPDK, Apigee Hybrid (Azure), and Apollo GraphQL platforms.
  • Design and deliver secure, scalable, and highly available API gateway solutions that support critical business applications.
  • Lead API platform modernization initiatives, including Apigee On-Prem to Apigee Hybrid migrations and cloud-native platform adoption.
  • Drive GraphQL platform strategy, architecture, and optimization utilizing Apollo Federation, Apollo Router, and schema governance.
  • Implement enterprise API security controls including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, traffic management, and API governance standards.
  • Automate platform deployments and operations using GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Improve platform reliability through monitoring, observability, incident response, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Partner with Architects, Security, Infrastructure, and Development teams while mentoring engineers and advancing AI-driven engineering practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 7 years of experience within a total information technology (IT) environment
  • At least 7 years of experience with the design, development and support of technology infrastructure

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience administring and engineering Apigee OPDK (On-Prem) including API management, proxy development, traffic management, analytics, and platform administration.
  • Experience engineering and supporting enterprise platforms, middleware, API management solutions, cloud infrastructure, or distributed application environments.
  • Hands-on expertise deploying and supporting Apigee Hybrid on Azure AKS/Kubernetes environments.
  • Strong experience with Apollo GraphQL, including Federation, Router, schema design, governance, and performance optimization.
  • Deep knowledge of API security including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, and enterprise security best practices.
  • Experience building and supporting cloud-native platforms using Kubernetes, Helm, containers, and Azure services.
  • Strong automation and DevSecOps skills utilizing GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Python, Bash, and GitOps methodologies.
  • Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, distributed logging, monitoring, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale platform engineering initiatives, influence architecture decisions, and mentor technical teams.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
