PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Reports to: Plant Manager

Requirements


Responsible for the management and scheduling of plant operations including bindery, mailing, shipping/receiving, inventory and fulfillment to make sure that processes run smoothly, are cost-effective, and deliver quality products on time.

  • Plan, organize and direct the workflow and operations to ensure the most effective return on assets.
  • Initiate plans and processes which minimize production costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital. Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while ensuring product standards will exceed our customers’ expectations.
  • Implement production strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports Darwill’s strategic initiatives.
  • Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
  • Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving.
  • Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes. Schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies.
  • Manage spending against budget, controlling spending in relation to changes in production volume.
  • Assure that employee relations issues are effectively addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all Employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action.
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
  • Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
  • Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.

Qualifications:

  • Printing/Direct Marketing, Mail or Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in a high production printing environment.
  • Management/Supervisor experience.
  • Bi-lingual – Spanish a plus

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This job requires you to sit in a cubicle or office, on a computer (1 or more monitors) for some of the day.
  • May be required to work extended/evening hours and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to stand for 8 to 12 hours & walk 3 hours
  • Lift up to 50lbs
  • Intermittent bending up to 3 hours. Including:
  • Bending neck
  • Bending waist
  • Twisting waist
  • Intermittent squatting up to 3 hours
  • Repetitive hand movement up to 8 to 12 hours including:
  • Simple grasping, hand manipulation, pushing/pulling
  • Reach above and below shoulder height
