Resource Innovations is seeking a Project Engineer – Energy (YL1726) to join our office in Chicago, IL. Partial telecommuting permitted up to 3 days/week.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting technical engineering reviews and inspections of energy efficiency projects in alignment
  • with standard Energy Efficiency (EE) program guidelines.
  • Review comprehensive energy assessments/audits for commercial and retail customers.
  • Perform energy efficiency calculations by using spreadsheets.
  • Oversee energy efficiency inspections.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day aspects of inspection including customer communication, scheduling, and inspection assignments. Responsible for overseeing inspection QC process.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, customers, and clients on high-incentive projects, reviewing equipment and specifications to ensure they meet program requirements and timelines
  • Manage measure design tasks, develop and review energy savings calculations for different baseline and efficient equipment, and review technical work papers.
  • Investigate and identify additional opportunities and energy efficiency measures to expand portfolio.
  • Create and maintain a sustainable method for inspection forecasting and inspection goal tracking.
  • Provide technical assistance to other teams when clarification about technical topics is needed.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and other teams on various energy efficiency areas, including inspections, technical engineering reviews, measures design, and inspection tracking and forecasting.
  • Help improve the program procedures, workflow, and cross-team communication.
  • Develop training and reference materials for project life cycle.
  • Oversee the Standard EE program safety program and ensure all teams on the program comply with the required safety standards.

Requirements
  • This position requires a Master's Degree or foreign equivalent in Energy Systems, Energy Engineering, Mechanical
  • Engineering or a related field of study plus 1 year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation in the field of energy engineering.
  • Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in Energy Systems, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation in the field of energy engineering.
  • In addition, must have prior experience with each of the following:
    • Designing and working with incentive programs and energy regulations;
    • Working with several cross-functional teams and collaborating seamlessly across various parties;
    • Working on several projects at the same time and ensuring their timely completion;
    • Designing and maintaining the inspection forecast;
    • Tracking a team's progress, and ensure the team is on track to meet its goals;
    • Managing client communications, and scheduling and inspection assignments;
    • Performing technical engineering reviews of energy efficiency projects;
    • Performing inspections of energy efficiency projects;
    • Performing energy efficiency calculations;
    • Technical assessments for Commercial and Industrial HVAC and lighting systems;
    • Applying energy efficiency codes and standards, including ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC;
    • and, supporting Inspection goals by monitoring procedures, KPIs and providing timely progress reports.

Travel Requirement: Up to 10% domestic travel required to project sites within the United States.

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position.  The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $95,500.00.  In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.  The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position.  Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location. 

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes three weeks of paid vacation per year; paid holidays; a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer matching; health, dental and vision insurance; and other supplemental benefits. 

Employment with Resource Innovations is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check and reference check. If applicable to the position, a pre-employment drug screen may also be required.
