We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to support a variety of manufacturing locations throughout the Midwest region of the United States. The position will be based in our corporate headquarters in Oak Brook, Ill.
While this position supports all aspects of EHS, a strong emphasis is on ensuring environmental compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving cultural transformation and implementing proactive environmental, health, and safety initiatives. The Manager will also help ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations at the local, state, and federal levels and interface directly with agency officials.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain facility environmental and safety compliance with all regulatory programs, including CAA, CWA, RCRA, OSHA, EPCRA, TSCA, and DOT.
- Ensure facilities' compliance with all appropriate federal, state, and local environmental permit and safety regulations, including maintaining appropriate written programs, monitoring logs, and other recordkeeping, and ensuring timely submittals to regulatory agencies.
- Represent the company appropriately when dealing with state, federal, or local regulatory agency representatives (EPA, OSHA, etc.) in response to Requests for Information (RFIs), questions, comments, or concerns regarding plant activities.
- Provide EHS leadership, support, and direction across multiple sites, establishing strong working relationships with site management teams.
- Ensure consistency in EHS practices and procedures throughout the manufacturing facilities assigned. Following guidance of corporate “performance-based” policies and standards, work with plant management to create location-specific programs and procedures that meet objectives.
- Collaborate with plant personnel on process and facility improvements and help track and facilitate implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) designed to mitigate EHS hazards, eliminate environmental noncompliance events, reduce employee injury rates, and prevent future incidents.
- Interact with employees in all functions and levels, as well as consultants, legal counsel, subcontractors, vendors, and other non-Mauser Packaging Solutions contacts to continuously drive EHS initiatives and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policy.
- Identify, evaluate, and track accident and injury trends for the locations/areas assigned, offering practical recommendations for corrective action.
- Ensure EHS training and education programs, including new hire orientation, toolbox and regulatory training, are effective and conducted on time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, and/or Safety Engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in EHS with at least 5 years within a manufacturing or corporate setting or consulting.
