Job Description
We’re looking for a Business Development Director who is a high-energy leader with a track record of developing partnerships and sourcing strategic opportunities at dynamic organizations. This person thrives on building deals from the ground up and is a self-starter. The right candidate can help us identify qualified potential partners and forge long-term relationships with their key decision makers that result in win-win partnerships or key acquisitions. Done right, this person can create lasting and meaningful business relationships for Avant. This position - a critical member of the Marketing Team - will report to the company’s Vice President of Marketing and will work closely with Avant’s executive team as we scale our business. What you do at Avant:
- Own and drive the Business Development function for Avant’s digital banking business; loan, credit card, and more
- Support Avant’s near and long term growth strategy through identification, assessment and execution of potential partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions
- Creatively explore and evaluate new opportunities in adjacent markets and propose collaborations to grow the business within key industry verticals
- Partner with business leaders to translate opportunities into growth initiatives and ensure deals make strategic sense and fit with forward-looking plans.
- Build, maintain and expand long-term relationships with strategic partner executives and key decision makers
- Develop and present reporting that tracks against key KPIs and evaluate performance to recommend improvements
- Structure and solve complex business problems while collaborating with cross functional teams to develop compelling solutions
- Work in a fast-paced and iterative environment with leaders across technology, product, marketing, finance, legal, compliance and operations teams
- Manage the process from initial touchpoint through dealmaking and onboarding, to meet or exceed, expected partnership goals
Why you are a fit for Avant:
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in sales, business development, corporate development or M&A
- Meaningful focus in FinTech or financial services ecosystems, with working knowledge of the landscape and relationships with key players, to drive immediate impact
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Finance or Economics (MBA is a plus)
- Ambitious self-starter, who will be able to deliver results
- Determined, positive attitude that will rub off on your colleagues and business prospects
- Superior relationship-building skills and stellar track record of developing new partnerships/deals with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to think clearly & analyze quantitatively
- Ability to look ahead and balance strategic projects and initiatives with tactical day-to-day reporting and management cadence
- Experience with the M&A process (including deal structuring, due diligence, execution & integration) a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior management teams, manage and execute projects with a strong bias for action; ability to effectively prioritize projects and meet aggressive, recurring deadlines
- Willingness to travel on an as needed basis
