About Protera

Protera is a global leader in SAP and IT managed services, founded in 1998 and built on more than 25 years of combined cloud and SAP expertise. We help SAP-centric organizations in manufacturing, financial services, CPG & retail, life sciences, and energy modernize, migrate, and run their SAP landscapes – including RISE with SAP and Cloud ERP, SAP Technical Services, SAP Security, SAP BTP, and Functional AMS – across SAP, Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. Our CloudVantage platform (ProSuite and TeraAI) extends that expertise with proprietary automation and AI-driven operations. We describe ourselves as “small enough to listen, large enough to deliver,” and our culture is guided by curiosity, impact, authenticity, and celebration.

Position Summary

Protera is hiring an experienced SAP Solutions Architect to serve as the primary technical partner to our sales organization throughout the deal cycle. You will translate prospect and customer business requirements into credible, differentiated SAP solution architectures – spanning RISE with SAP, S/4HANA migration, Functional AMS, SAP Basis and technical operations, SAP BTP, and hyperscaler-hosted managed services – and you will own the technical narrative in presentations, proofs of concept, and RFP/RFI responses. This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who has spent 10+ years designing and running enterprise SAP landscapes and who now wants to apply that depth to winning new business rather than only delivering it.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Pre-Sales Support

  • Partner with Account Executives on qualified opportunities, joining discovery calls to assess a prospect’s current SAP landscape, business drivers, and technical constraints.
  • Design end-to-end target-state architectures – ECC-to-S/4HANA conversion, RISE with SAP, SAP AMS Functional Support, managed hosting on AWS/Azure/GCP, SAP BTP extensions – tailored to each prospect’s environment and goals.
  • Lead technical presentations, solution demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements that show prospects how Protera’s managed services and CloudVantage platform address their requirements.
  • Own the technical content of RFP/RFI/RFQ responses, including architecture diagrams, technical narratives, scope assumptions, and effort/staffing inputs used to build pricing.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor during the sales cycle, handling technical objections and clearly differentiating Protera from hyperscale SIs and other SAP managed-services providers.
  • Create, compare and present pricing models to customers.
  • Support contract and statement-of-work discussions by validating technical scope, assumptions, and feasibility before signature.

Solution & Delivery Enablement

  • Ensure a clean technical handoff from sales to delivery so that the solution intent, assumptions, and commitments made during the sales cycle carry through into implementation.
  • Collaborate with SAP alliance and partner teams to stay current on the SAP roadmap, RISE with SAP updates, and BTP capabilities, and to identify co-sell opportunities.
  • Contribute to reusable sales IP: reference architecture, estimation models, demo environments, and competitive positioning materials.
  • Mentor junior solutions architects and sales engineers on SAP technical architecture and presales technique.
  • Represent Protera as a subject-matter expert at industry events, webinars, and with analysts (e.g., SAPinsider, ASUG).

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in SAP consulting, technical architecture, or managed services, including hands-on design of enterprise SAP landscapes.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting sales or pre-sales cycles – RFPs, demos, solution design, or scoping – for SAP hosting, S/4HANA migration, Functional AMS, RISE with SAP, or managed services (5+ years preferred).
  • Deep working knowledge of multiple of the following: Core ERP Modules, SAP Basis, technical cloud architecture, S/4HANA,ECC landscape design, and or SAP BTP.
  • Working knowledge of at least one hyperscale platform (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud) in an SAP hosting context.
  • Ability to estimate scope, effort, and risk for SAP migration and managed-services engagements.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate credibly with both technical stakeholders and C-level business sponsors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with RISE with SAP or ECC-to-S/4HANA conversion projects, including migration methodology and business-case development.
  • SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate, SAP Certified Technology Professional) and/or architecture credentials such as TOGAF.
  • Familiarity with CRM and proposal tooling (e.g., Salesforce, CPQ) used in enterprise sales cycles.
  • Prior experience at a boutique SAP managed-services or hosting provider, systems integrator, or hyperscale (e.g., Syntax, Lemongrass, Kyndryl, NTT DATA Business Solutions, Accenture).
  • Industry depth in one or more of Protera’s focus verticals: manufacturing, financial services, CPG & retail, life sciences, or energy.
