The Senior Business Process Expert is responsible for leading high impact business process transformation initiatives in support of the University's persistence and operational excellence strategies. This role serves as a Business Owner within a Product Oriented Delivery (POD) model, acting as the primary voice of the business for assigned initiatives. The Senior Business Process Expert partners closely with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, CDX portfolio teams, and functional leaders to define, prioritize, and deliver solutions that simplify processes, enhance the student experience, and realize measurable business outcomes.
Business Ownership & Strategic Alignment
- Serves as a Business Owner within the Product Oriented Delivery (POD) model, representing business stakeholders, students, and operational teams to ensure solutions align with institutional goals and desired outcomes.
- Provides clear direction and timely decision making on scope, priorities, and tradeoffs to keep initiatives moving forward and maximize business value.
- Owns accountability for business outcomes, including defining success measures, tracking KPIs, and ensuring alignment between strategy, delivery, and operational execution.
- Collaborates with CDX portfolio teams to ensure initiatives align to the CDX roadmap, including delivery timing, readiness activities, and downstream operational impacts.
Requirements, Process Design & Solution Delivery
- Represents key business units in the simplification and standardization of high impact, highly visible processes, ensuring scalability and consistency.
- Provides strategic input into systems selection, configuration, and implementation to support redesigned processes.
Agile Participation & Cross Functional Collaboration
- Actively participates in Agile delivery ceremonies, including sprint planning, sprint reviews/demos, and retrospectives, to support continuous improvement.
- Functions as an engaged POD member, partnering closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, SMEs, vendors, and delivery teams throughout the product lifecycle.
User Acceptance Testing & Quality Assurance
- Leads User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for assigned functional areas, securing testers, supervising execution, and ensuring solutions meet defined business requirements.
- Approves the quality and completeness of system solutions for the functional area prior to production rollout.
Change Management & Adoption
- Champions change management efforts, ensuring stakeholder readiness, adoption, and realization of defined business outcomes.
- Partners with leadership to assess organizational impacts and readiness related to process changes and system enhancements.
Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Utilizes data-driven insights and student success research to develop immediate and long-term tactics to positively impact student retention.
- Stays current on all academic policies and maintains broad operational knowledge and a deep understanding of multiple functions and institutional policies.
- Defines measurement criteria and reporting needs; collaborates with leadership and analytics teams to deliver actionable insights.
- Assists in the creation of executive dashboards, KPIs, and presentation materials to support decision making.
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in change management, project management, process improvement & implementation, etc. required.
- Must be recommended by functional department VP as their representative.
- Must be considered a Subject Matter Expert for their represented area.
- Special Skills: facilitation, process mapping, policy creation.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in matrixed, cross functional, and Agile environments.
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $80,336.75 and $145,077.09. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
