York Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Business Systems Developer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance business-critical applications, databases, and financial systems. This position requires advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, .NET development, systems integration, and a strong understanding of accounting processes and financial data.

The successful candidate will work closely with accounting, operations, and technology teams to understand business requirements, develop reliable and efficient solutions, and support the systems essential to the company's daily operations. Responsibilities include database development, application programming, system integrations, reporting, troubleshooting, and ongoing system improvements.

This is a hands-on senior technical position offering the opportunity to assume increasing ownership and responsibility for the company's business applications, databases, and integrations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, sound technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while developing a comprehensive understanding of York Solutions' business processes and technology environment.

Technology Environment

York Solutions maintains a diverse technology environment supporting its accounting, staffing, reporting, and business operations. The successful candidate will work with a combination of established business applications, custom-developed solutions, and modern integration technologies.

Our current technology environment includes:

· Database Management: Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, SQL Server Agent, linked servers, and database performance optimization.

· Application Development: VB.NET, .NET Framework, Windows Forms, and custom business applications.

· Data Integration: REST APIs, ODBC connections, ETL processes, third-party integrations, and automated data synchronization.

· Business and Financial Systems: Bullhorn, Sage Intacct, and internally developed accounting and operational applications.

· Reporting and Analytics: Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft Excel, and custom reporting solutions.

· Legacy Systems: Microsoft Access applications, existing Windows-based applications, and legacy SQL Server environments.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable maintaining and enhancing existing systems while identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, automation, and long-term maintainability.

Requirements

 Key Responsibilities 

· Design, develop, optimize, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and queries.

· Design, develop, maintain, and enhance custom business applications using VB.NET, Microsoft .NET technologies, and SQL Server, including existing Windows-based applications and future application development initiatives.

· Develop secure and reliable integrations between accounting platforms, internal applications, third-party systems, and reporting tools.

· Translate accounting and business requirements into technical specifications and software solutions.

· Support financial processes involving the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and financial reporting.

· Create ETL processes, data imports, exports, conversions, interfaces, and automated workflows.

· Analyze and improve SQL query performance, indexing strategies, database structures, and application response times.

· Develop reports, dashboards, and data extracts that support financial and operational decision-making.

· Validate data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reconciliation across multiple systems.

· Troubleshoot complex application, database, integration, and production issues.

· Implement appropriate security controls, audit trails, error handling, logging, and data-access permissions.

· Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including application architecture, database structures, system integrations, data mappings, business processes, and support procedures to ensure long-term system maintainability and knowledge continuity.

· Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver projects on schedule.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

· Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development, database programming, and business application support.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including database design, complex queries, stored procedures, functions, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

· Strong proficiency in VB.NET and the Microsoft .NET Framework, including experience developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing Windows Forms applications and other custom business applications.

· Experience designing, developing, and maintaining integrations between internal applications, accounting systems, third-party platforms, and external data sources using APIs, ODBC, ETL processes, and other integration technologies.

· Experience supporting and enhancing existing business-critical applications, including troubleshooting production issues, implementing improvements, and maintaining system reliability.

· Strong understanding of relational database design, data integrity, data validation, and reconciliation across multiple business systems.

· Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial workflows, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, journal entries, and financial reporting.

· Experience supporting accounting, ERP, financial reporting, or other enterprise business applications.

· Ability to analyze business requirements, recommend technical solutions, and work directly with accounting, operations, and other departments to improve business processes.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical and business-related issues.

· Demonstrated ability to independently manage business-critical applications, lead technical projects, prioritize competing demands, and take ownership of technical solutions while collaborating effectively with business stakeholders and technology teams.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Bullhorn, Sage Intacct, or similar staffing, ERP, accounting, and financial management systems.

· Experience developing and maintaining Microsoft Access applications, including integration with SQL Server databases.

· Familiarity with legacy SQL Server environments, database migrations, and application modernization.

· Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, or similar reporting and business intelligence tools.

· Experience developing and maintaining RESTful Web APIs and integrating applications with cloud-based services and third-party platforms.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Azure SQL, or other cloud-based database and application technologies.

· Experience developing web-based business applications using ASP.NET, JavaScript, or other modern web development technologies.

· Experience automating accounting, financial reporting, data reconciliation, and other operational business processes.

· Experience evaluating, modernizing, and transitioning legacy applications while maintaining business continuity and data integrity.
