We currently have an exceptional opportunity for a self-motivated Senior Designer - Project Manager - CF to join our office in Chicago, IL. This individual shall be responsible for establishing the conceptual approach to all systems on multiple projects and ensuring its implementation through the management of resources.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Designer – Project Manager - CF, you will be responsible for managing the function of projects.  Take ownership of the client’s and the firm’s project goals for those projects assigned to him/her in terms of: project contract management, understanding and managing client expectations, tight project schedule control, controlling and optimizing project financials including billing and collections, and ensuring optimal project information flow (internal and externally).  Mus work closely with trade specific project engineers to ensure al the items above are delivered in a coordinated product.  Develop staff skills along the lines of project management.

Essential duties:

  • Convert client goals into appropriate system designs and/or solutions considering the environmental affects; project budget; health; safety and welfare of the public; and local systems and methods
  • Represent Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors and other project team members
  • Coordinate and assign various projects to be performed by the design team (i.e., system design and project engineering)
  • Supervise and lead the design team under the direction of the Engineer of Record; which includes candidate selection, training, assignment of work, assessing performance and administering disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Maintain interdisciplinary coordination with other trades/projects consultants.
  • Supervise preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions
  • Supervise coordination meetings.
  • Create and manage budget, scheduling, and manage resources.
  • Responsible for QA/QC for the project
  • Responsible for monitoring all correspondence between staff and clients, contractors, Owners, etc.
  • Prepare proposals and administer project contracts between SHG and the client, including Add Service Agreements for the “Engineer of Record” or Project Manager to review
  • Address Construction Administrative duties, such as field reports, responses to RFI’s, processing Bulletins and Addenda, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma with trad school certification in CAD Mechanical or Electrical fields or AA degree in Mechanical, Plumbing or Electrical field relevant experience
  • 8+ years of experience in the Electrical fields
  • Advance skills with the MSN Office Suites including: Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat/Reader
  • Demonstrate a high-level of proficiency in design and calculation software
  • Possess a high degree of interpersonal and relationship building skills

The salary range listed below is for this particular job posting.  Actual pay range for candidates will be commensurate with candidate’s experience, skillsets and competencies and may differ based on the cost of labor in their particular location.
