Job Description:

AssetMark Wealth Services develops innovative, outcome-oriented investment strategies and portfolios. We partner exclusively with financial advisors on the AssetMark platform to provide investment solutions and resources designed to help advisors deliver better outcomes for their clients.

We are expanding our investment platform to include a growing range of private markets strategies alongside our multi-asset, SMA, and ETF solutions. As Senior Investment Consultant – Private Markets, you will play a key role in building AssetMark's presence in private markets and driving adoption of these solutions across our advisor community.

Serving as a senior subject-matter expert and external-facing investment consultant, you will partner closely with AssetMark's sales teams to educate and engage financial advisors, develop territory strategies, and drive production and net flows. You will bring deep private markets expertise, strong commercial instincts, and the ability to translate complex investment concepts into compelling, actionable conversations for advisors and their clients.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a fully-remote work schedule. This is a field-based role requiring significant travel throughout the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with AssetMark sales teams to develop and execute territory strategies that drive awareness, adoption, production, and net flows across private markets solutions.
  • Build and deepen relationships with independent financial advisors and RIAs through proactive outreach, high-quality consultations, events, and in-person engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted private markets resource to advisors, understanding their businesses, client needs, and challenges and helping them identify appropriate ways to incorporate private market strategies into their practices.
  • Educate advisors and internal partners on private markets through presentations, webinars, individual and group meetings, and AssetMark and industry events.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert across private assets, including fund structures and mechanics, translating complex investment concepts into clear, actionable messages for advisors and their clients.
  • Develop a strong understanding of AssetMark's private markets offerings and articulate their role within broader portfolio construction and wealth management strategies.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop compelling advisor-facing materials, messaging, and educational resources that support the growth of AssetMark's private markets platform.
  • Represent AssetMark as a private markets thought leader through articles, webinars, podcasts, conferences, and other industry forums.
  • Leverage CRM tools and sales data to manage territory activity, identify opportunities, track advisor engagement, and optimize sales strategies.
  • Maintain awareness of private markets trends, competitive offerings, advisor needs, and evolving industry dynamics to inform field strategy and advisor conversations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Private markets expertise: Strong knowledge of private credit, private equity, private real estate, infrastructure, and other alternative investment strategies, including interval funds and other evergreen/private market structures.
  • Distribution experience: Demonstrated success in alternatives/private markets distribution, investment consulting, or a related advisor-facing role serving RIAs and independent financial advisors.
  • Commercial orientation: Proven ability to drive product adoption, influence investment decisions, develop territories, and achieve production or sales goals.
  • Investment fluency: Strong understanding of portfolio construction and the role of private assets within client portfolios, including considerations related to liquidity, risk, suitability, and taxation.
  • Communication: Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to make sophisticated investment concepts understandable and relevant.
  • Relationship building and influence: High emotional intelligence and demonstrated ability to establish credibility, build trust, and influence financial advisors, clients, sales partners, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Executive presence: Confidence representing AssetMark with sophisticated advisors, clients, and industry audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in alternatives/private markets distribution, investment consulting, wholesaling, or a related financial services role preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with RIAs, independent financial advisors, or other wealth management intermediaries strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • CFA or CAIA designation preferred; candidates actively pursuing a designation may also be considered.
  • Appropriate securities license(s) required or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $125,000-$175,000, as well as a highly competitive Sales Incentive Plan .

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also include competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
