Summary:

In this role, you will support day-to-day legal operations for the Kaufman Hall Consulting Business Unit by drafting, reviewing, and supporting the negotiation of contracts while partnering with internal clients to address legal, compliance, and governance matters. You will work closely with legal leadership to ensure contracts align with organizational policies and risk standards, while progressively operating with greater independence. You will provide practical legal guidance, manage contract workflows, and contribute to efficient, compliant business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, and execute contracts to support client engagements and internal operations.
  • Support negotiation of agreements with oversight from Vizient’s legal counsel.
  • Manage the contract lifecycle from intake through execution, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Evaluate a range of agreements, including client proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, master services agreements, subcontractor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Achieve strong understanding of the firm’s major business lines to effectively identify contract risk and ensure contract terms align with Kaufman Hall and the organizational policies, legal standards, and risk tolerance.
  • Understand Kaufman Hall and Vizient policies to provide clear, practical legal guidance to internal clients, balancing business objectives and legal risk.
  • Clearly communicate complex legal terms into clear, understandable language for stakeholders.
  • Maintain contract records, manage post-execution processes, and support document archiving and record integrity through use of Kaufman Hall’s contract management system.
  • Coordinate deadlines, priorities, and reporting to support legal operations and sales operations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree preferred.
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience in a law firm or in-house corporate legal environment preferred.
  • Paralegal certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of contract terms, negotiation, and legal documentation.
  • Understanding of legal procedures, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Dynamics, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other legal tools.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal clients and external partners.

This is an office based role with an expectation of three days per week on site in Chicago, IL

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $68,500.00 to $116,300.00.

This position is also incentive eligible.
