Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Project Finance will lead the execution of the financing strategy for Fullmark Energy's growing portfolio of battery energy storage projects. This role is responsible for modeling, structuring, negotiating, and closing project finance transactions — including construction debt, tax equity, and back-leverage — while supporting broader corporate origination, FP&A and compliance activities. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in renewable energy or infrastructure project finance and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the modeling, structuring, negotiation, and closing of project finance transactions, including construction loans, tax equity investments, back-leverage facilities, and term debt across the BESS portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project-level and portfolio-level financial models to evaluate financing structures, returns, and sensitivities.
  • Manage relationships with lenders, tax equity investors, financial advisors, and other capital partners throughout the financing lifecycle.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes, working cross-functionally with Development, Legal, Engineering, and Operations teams to support lender and investor requests.
  • Review and negotiate financing documents including term sheets, credit agreements, tax equity agreements, and intercreditor arrangements in coordination with internal and external counsel.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, board presentations, and lender/investor reporting packages.
  • Monitor and manage compliance with financing covenants, reporting obligations, and drawdown requirements across the operating and construction portfolio.
  • Evaluate and execute refinancing opportunities, portfolio-level financing structures, and other capital optimization strategies.
  • Contribute to the assessment of new project acquisitions, pricing of RFP responses, and valuation of partnership opportunities from a financial perspective.
  • Track market trends in renewable energy finance, tax equity markets, and energy storage-specific financing structures to inform strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the banking, tax equity, and infrastructure investment communities.
  • Support the growth and development of junior finance team members as the team scales.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5–9 years of experience in project finance, structured finance, or infrastructure finance, with direct exposure to renewable energy or power transactions.
  • Demonstrated track record of closing project finance transactions from structuring through financial close.

Skills and Competencies

  • Deep expertise in renewable energy project finance, including tax equity structures (partnership flip, inverted lease, sale-leaseback), construction debt, and term financing.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to build and audit complex, multi-scenario project finance models from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of ITC/PTC mechanics, transferability, and the evolving energy tax credit landscape under the Inflation Reduction Act.
  • Familiarity with BESS-specific financing considerations, including standalone storage, co-located projects, and merchant vs. contracted revenue structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts clearly to senior leadership and external partners.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous financing processes and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with financial databases and project management tools a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as required.

Work Conditions

The Senior Manager, Project Finance will be based in Chicago, IL and may work in a hybrid arrangement with a combination of in-office, remote work, and required travel. Travel as needed to project sites and partner facilities is required and will make up approximately 10% of working time.
