Your Role at Baxter

At Baxter, we don’t just build devices—we build life‑sustaining solutions that patients and clinicians depend on every day. As a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll be a technical visionary and hands‑on leader, driving the creation of next‑generation monitoring and sensing technologies within our medication delivery portfolio.

This role is for an engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, loves turning bold ideas into real‑world products, and is energized by seeing their work directly improve patient outcomes around the globe.

Your Impact

You’ll serve as a technical leader from concept through commercialization, shaping electrical architectures and designs that must perform flawlessly in safety‑critical environments. Working at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, you’ll influence not just how products are built—but how they’re experienced, manufactured, and trusted.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate customer and user needs into clear electrical design requirements and hardware specifications

  • Architect and document robust electronic systems for embedded, microcontroller‑based products

  • Lead the design of high‑performance analog and digital circuitry, balancing innovation with reliability

  • Analyze and simulate circuits to ensure performance across environmental, load, and timing stresses

  • Partner seamlessly with mechanical and software teams to deliver fully integrated system designs

  • Create, review, and approve schematics, specifications, drawings, and design documentation

  • Define and execute test strategies that prove designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements

  • Guide PCB layout to achieve EMI/EMC compliance, manufacturability, and long‑term robustness

  • Support design transfer to manufacturing, ensuring scalable and repeatable production

  • Collaborate across engineering, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing to resolve competing priorities

  • Apply data acquisition and analysis techniques to characterize and optimize design performance

  • Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for complex electrical challenges

  • Clearly communicate design intent, test plans, progress, and results to stakeholders at all levels

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline

  • 10+ years of experience developing electromechanical hardware, ideally in medical devices or other regulated industries

  • Deep expertise in embedded electronics, including analog and digital circuit design

  • Proven experience designing products to meet electromagnetic emissions and immunity standards

  • Strong proficiency with PCB schematic and layout tools (Altium Designer preferred)

  • Experience using data acquisition and test tools such as LabVIEW

  • A passion for mentoring, collaboration, and raising the technical bar for those around you

  • A mindset that blends engineering rigor with creative problem‑solving
