In compliance with US pay transparency the salary range is $115,000 - $181,000. This is the indicative range for the role should it be based in the US but note that each geography carries specific salary ranges for the role reflective of local market conditions

About this role:

The Ingredient Science Sr. Principal Scientist serves as a technical specialist in developing fundamental ingredient knowledge and developing performance studies. This role drives development of robust solutions value propositions during the NPD stage gate process working closely with the Applications Research & Deployment team and Innovation & Development team to help deliver innovative, customer-focused ingredient solutions globally.

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct foundational research on ingredient interactions and functionalities. Assess interactions and influence of different parameters on the functionality of ingredients
  • Drive the development of robust ingredient value proposition during the NPD stage gate process working closely with Research & Innovation Scientist and Commercial Platform Leads
  • Closely collaborate with Applications Research team on design and execution of experiments to confirm robust value propositions during later stages of the NPD stage gate process
  • Collaborate with Applications Research teams to assure foundational ingredient knowledge is incorporated into Knowledge Building and Chassis projects
  • Collaborate with Science & Innovation, Regional Technical Services and Regional Commercial leaders to identify customer opportunities and transform ingredient concepts into practical applications.
  • Develop technical documentation and insights to support internal teams and external customer communication. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending advancements for the development of scientific methodologies and processes for ingredient applications that meet customer needs.
  • Mentor and coach junior scientists, fostering technical excellence and compliance standards within the team.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ideally educated on master’s degree or doctorate level (or equivalent) in relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 10+ yrs of industry experience after education in a corporate environment.
  • Expert knowledge in related specialised fields, disciplines, tools and approaches within R&D and applications in the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong communication skills to persuade and influence stakeholders. The role needs to adapt styles, interpret and explain information to different audiences inside and outside the organisation who are not familiar with the subject matter.
  • Able to solve complex problems which require advanced decision-making, research, original thought and new solutions
  • Resolve ingredient-related issues that are complex or unusual requiring original thought, research, new approaches and analytical techniques.
  • Provide advice and guidance through technical knowledge, research and analysis within own discipline, which impacts the performance of the team.
  • May oversee project delivery, including managing project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure successful completion.
