About RudderStack

RudderStack helps companies build on top of their own data. Our warehouse-native Customer Data Platform enables engineering, data, and AI teams to collect, unify, govern, and activate customer data while maintaining full ownership and control. By running directly on top of the customer's cloud data warehouse or lakehouse, RudderStack reduces data movement, improves governance, lowers infrastructure costs, and accelerates modern data and AI initiatives.

Leading companies including Lovable, Jaguar Land Rover, and Foot Locker trust RudderStack to power mission-critical customer data infrastructure.

We're now in the middle of one of the most significant shifts in the company's history: evolving from the industry's leading warehouse-native CDP into a fully Agentic CDP built for the AI era — a platform that doesn't just collect and activate customer data, but reasons over it and takes action on our customers' behalf. EMEA is a critical part of that next chapter, and this hire will help define it.

About the role

  • We're looking for a Senior Sales Engineer who can sit across the table from an engineering leader, understand the customer data problem they're actually trying to solve, and show them how RudderStack solves it.
  • This is a pre-sales role. You'll own the technical relationship during the evaluation, running discovery, designing and delivering proofs of concept, navigating security and architecture reviews, and building the technical case that wins the deal. You'll work alongside Account Executives on our largest and most complex opportunities, and you'll hand off to Customer Success once the customer is live.
  • You'd be joining a team of engineers who care about data, about the community around it, and about making life easier for the people who use our product. We care deeply about our customers, and we judge ourselves on how well we serve them.
*Our roles are remote first, and can be based anywhere in the US (#LI-Remote).

What you'll do

  • Own the technical workstream on new business and expansion opportunities, from first technical call through to signed contract and handoff to Customer Success.
  • Run technical discovery to understand a prospect's current stack, data architecture, and the business outcomes they're trying to reach, then map those to a concrete RudderStack solution.
  • Design, build, and deliver proofs of concept and demos tailored to the customer's actual use case, not a canned script.
  • Lead architecture conversations on data governance, identity resolution, customer 360, and warehouse design, and defend those designs to technical buyers.
  • Navigate security reviews, RFPs, and technical due diligence alongside the account team.
  • Develop deep subject matter expertise on the customer data landscape and RudderStack's role within it.
  • Act as a trusted advisor who can influence a prospect's customer data strategy, not just answer questions about our product.
  • Bring the field's perspective back inside by surfacing patterns from prospect conversations to shape product direction and roadmap priorities.
  • Create technical content that scales your expertise beyond the deals you personally work.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years in a pre-sales solutions or sales engineering role, supporting technical products sold to technical buyers.
  • A track record of owning the technical win on complex, multi-stakeholder deals with enterprise customers.
  • Strong understanding of how modern web services and mobile apps are built, and the cloud infrastructure behind them (AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
  • Professional experience in several of: ETL/ELT concepts and workflows, data pipeline design, message queuing patterns, API design and integration, web or mobile development, technical consulting.
  • The ability to explain a hard technical concept to an engineer, a product manager, and a growth marketer, and have all three walk away with what they needed.
  • Comfort switching context quickly across multiple active opportunities.

Bonus Points:

  • You've built and shipped websites or mobile apps, or worked hands-on with ETL and data pipelines.
  • You've been a DBA, or have strong SQL and dbt experience.
  • You've worked in marketing or advertising technology and know firsthand where customer data breaks down.
  • You've worked with data analytics, data science, or AI/ML, particularly anything involving getting warehouse data into AI applications.
  • You have a habit of taking things apart to understand how they work under the hood.
