Would you like to help define organizations secure the APIs, AI applications, and agentic systems that power modern business?

Are you a product marketer who can go deep technically, turn complex security capabilities into compelling market stories, and confidently engage Product, field teams, customers, and analysts?

Be Part of Our Security Product Marketing Team

As APIs and AI agents transform how digital experiences and business processes are built, they also expand the attack surface and create new security challenges. This is a highly technical Product Marketing role with end-to-end go-to-market ownership for Akamai API Security and emerging AI and agent security capablities. You will help define how these solutions are positioned, launched, adopted, and understood in the market while developing the product depth to demonstrate them credibly and engage technical audiences. The right candidate combines the strong product marketing judgement with the curiosity and technical fluency to understand how the technology actually works.

Partner with the best

As a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager, you will be the market-facing owner and technical product marketing lead for API Security and emerging agent security capabilities. You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Solution Engineering, Sales, and the broader Marketing organization to turn product capabilities into differentiated positioning, compelling launches, field-ready enablement, and credible customer proof. You will be expected to independently develop deep product knowledge, run demos, understand architecture and deployment patterns, validate technical claims, and serve as a trusted face of the product with sellers, customers, partners, and analysts. This is not a pure engineering role, but it is also not a traditional content-only PMM role.

As a Senior Technical Marketing Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Owning positioning, messaging, value propositions, buyer and audience strategy, competitive differentiation, and go-to-market plans for API Security and emerging AI and agent security capabilities
  • Leading product launches end-to-end from roadmap and early planning through market readiness and post-launch adoption, including use cases, target audiences, differentiation, proof, enablement, and success metrics
  • Developing deep product fluency by using Akamai products hands-on and understanding API traffic flows, integrations, deployment models, configuration patterns, limitations, and common troubleshooting scenarios
  • Building and delivering compelling product demonstrations and technical storytelling for sellers, Solution Engineers, customers, partners, analysts, webinars, and industry events, while partnering with technical teams on deeper labs and reference architectures when needed
  • Translating complex technical capabilities into clear market narratives and assets such as pitch decks, solution briefs, technical blogs, white papers, architecture content, competitive guidance, and customer-facing materials
  • Driving field readiness and adoption by diagnosing why sellers or Solution Engineers are struggling, then creating discovery questions, demo scripts, objection handling, enablement sessions, workshops, and repeatable plays and measuring their effectiveness
  • Partnering with Product Management and Engineering to validate technical claims, document assumptions, dependencies, and limitations, distinguish current capabilities from roadmap, and ensure public-facing messaging is accurate and defensible
  • Bringing customer, field, and competitive insight into roadmap discussions and acting as a credible counterpart to Product Management, Engineering, and Solution Engineering on market and technical implications
  • Engaging directly with developers, security architects, AppSec leaders, CISOs, customers, partners, and analysts, adapting technical depth and business value to each audience
  • Operating as a self-starting owner in a fast-moving portfolio, prioritizing across launches, field opportunites, product requests, and campaigns while communicating tradeoffs work to completion

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 8+ years of relevant B2B technology experience including 4+ years in Product Marketing, Technical Product Marketing, or equivalent ownership of positioning, launches, field enablement, and go-to-market for technically complex products, and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Demonstrate a track record of independently owning product or category positioning, launches, competitive strategy, field enablement, and adoption in cybersecurity, cloud, developer, or infrastructure markets
  • Bring strong working knowledge of API Security and application security concepts, including API request flows, authentication and authorization, the OWASP API Security Top 10, API gateways, WAAP or WAF, runtime security, and common deployment and integration patterns
  • Bring hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of AI agents, LLM application security, MCP, agent-to-tool and agent-to-API interactions, delegated access, and emerging agentic security risks
  • Be able to independently learn and use technical products, configure and run common workflows, deliver live demos, inspect technical evidence, and troubleshoot enough to validate product behavior and claims
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to developers, security practitioners, architects, executives, analysts, sellers, and cross-functional teams, adapting the level of detail and value story to the audience
  • Be able to work across Product Management, Engineering, Solution Engineering, Sales, and Marketing, challenge assumptions constructively, and make sound decisions with incomplete information
