About the Team:
The Talent & Culture team designs and delivers the programs and experiences that support Morningstar employees throughout their entire time here. From first contact through onboarding and beyond, we shape how people find, join, and grow at Morningstar. Recruiting is where that work begins.
The Role:
Morningstar's technology teams build tools and infrastructure that help investors make better decisions. Bringing the right people into those teams is work that matters.
As a Technology Recruiter, you will manage full-cycle recruiting for roles across software engineering, data, cloud, cybersecurity, AI/ML, and products. You will work directly with technical hiring managers to understand what their teams need, build sourcing strategies grounded in market data, and guide candidates through a process that is clear, honest, and respectful from start to finish.
This role suits someone who takes recruiting seriously as a craft — someone who is genuinely curious about technology, comfortable working with data, and capable of earning credibility with both technical leaders and candidates.
Location: Chicago, IL | On-site 4 days/week
What You'll Do:
- Own the full recruiting lifecycle: intake, market research, sourcing, assessment, interview management, offer, and closing.
- Partner with engineering, data, product, and infrastructure leaders to understand team goals, technical requirements, and what success looks like for each search.
- Turn technical requirements into focused talent profiles, sourcing strategies, and market maps.
- Build candidate pipelines using LinkedIn Recruiter, talent databases, referrals, professional networks, and targeted outreach.
- Bring market intelligence to your hiring managers — pipeline data, competitive context, and clear recommendations to support better hiring decisions.
- Track funnel health using metrics like pipeline volume, stage conversion, and time in stage. Spot problems early and recommend adjustments.
- Give every candidate a clear, timely, and respectful experience throughout the process.
- Coordinate closely with Talent & Culture teammates to ensure a smooth handoff from offer acceptance through onboarding.
- Look for ways to improve how recruiting runs; processes, tools, sourcing approaches, and the experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
What You Bring:
Required
- 4+ years of recruiting experience, including meaningful exposure to technical or technology-related searches.
- Experience recruiting within at least one technical discipline: software engineering, data, cloud/infrastructure, cybersecurity, AI/ML, or product.
- Ability to learn technical concepts and translate them into effective search strategies.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to offer candid recommendations to hiring managers.
- Comfort working with recruiting data and pipeline metrics to identify gaps and guide decisions.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Workday or another enterprise ATS.
- Curiosity about how technology is evolving and how that shapes the talent market.
