The Role We Want You For

We are looking for a highly adaptable Software Engineer to join our Application Development team. This role is ideal for a full-stack developer who enjoys working directly with business users, rapidly turning ideas into solutions, and using modern AI development tools to accelerate software delivery.

A key part of this role will be partnering with business users who are building prototype applications and helping transform those prototypes into secure, scalable, production-ready applications. The Software Engineer will be responsible for applying sound software engineering practices, implementing appropriate architecture and security controls, integrating enterprise data and systems, and ensuring applications can be hosted, supported, and operated appropriately within the enterprise.

In many cases, the business will continue to own the application's features, functionality, and product direction after the prototype is converted. Application Development will partner closely with those business owners while maintaining responsibility for key technical areas such as security, hosting, vulnerability management, and performance within the application and hosting layers under our control.

We are embracing an AI-first development approach, and the successful candidate must be comfortable using AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and similar technologies as a significant part of their day-to-day development workflow.

This position requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, flexibility, and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities. This is a full-time, on-site position.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support modern full-stack applications.
  • Build front-end applications using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
  • Develop APIs, services, and application back ends using .NET / C#.
  • Design and work with relational databases such as SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with internal and external enterprise systems.
  • Deploy and support applications and services within Microsoft Azure.
  • Partner directly with business users to understand workflows, requirements, and opportunities for automation.
  • Work closely with business users who create prototype applications and transform those prototypes into secure, reliable, production-ready solutions.
  • Evaluate prototype applications and determine what should be retained, redesigned, or replaced before production deployment.
  • Apply enterprise standards for security, authentication, authorization, hosting, data access, and application architecture.
  • Help ensure applications meet organizational expectations for security, vulnerability management, hosting, reliability, and performance within the application and hosting layers under our control.
  • Partner with business owners who may continue to manage feature priorities, functionality, and application direction after production deployment.
  • Use AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and other coding assistants extensively throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions and contribute to the continued evolution of development standards and reusable application patterns.
  • Troubleshoot application, integration, performance, and production issues.
  • Manage multiple applications, priorities, and development efforts in a fast-moving environment.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with other technology teams including Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Enterprise Architecture.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience in full-stack software development.
  • Experience with C# and .NET development.
  • Experience designing, querying, and developing against relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs and system integrations.
  • Understanding of modern application architecture and software engineering principles.
  • Strong understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, and secure development practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work directly with business users throughout the development process.
  • Strong interest in and willingness to use AI-assisted development tools as a primary part of the development workflow.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with a small development team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and requirements may evolve quickly.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, platforms, and development approaches.
  • Ability to work on-site full time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing applications in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Azure services such as App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, Service Bus, Key Vault, or similar services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth, OpenID Connect, managed identities, or other modern authentication technologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience building event-driven or integration-heavy applications.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems and data platforms.
  • Experience modernizing prototypes, low-code applications, or proof-of-concept solutions into enterprise-grade software.
