About the role:

The Senior Director of Industrial Manufacturing Engineering, North America (IME NA), is accountable for defining and executing the regional manufacturing engineering strategy across the full production-system lifecycle—from product and process concept through equipment selection, industrialization, commissioning, ramp-up, and sustained performance. This leader will integrate lean principles, automation, artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, digital manufacturing, maintenance excellence, and material-flow design to create safe, flexible, scalable, and cost-competitive operations. The role owns the regional technical roadmap and ensures manufacturing systems are designed to deliver planned OEE, throughput, quality, labor productivity, maintainability, sustainability, and total cost objectives.

Reporting to the COO, the Senior Director of IME NA will partner with factories, product lines, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, IT/OT, Procurement, and other operational teams to improve regional performance, enable strategic capacity and footprint decisions, and accelerate the deployment of standardized manufacturing technologies and ways of working.

Where you’ll be: Position can be located in Springfield, TN OR Charlotte, NC.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the North America Manufacturing Engineering strategy, operating model, technical standards, governance, and capability roadmap across all manufacturing sites.
  • Lead product industrialization, including DFM/DFMA, process architecture, manufacturing concepts, and new product launch readiness.
  • Direct production system, line, cell, and facility design to optimize safety, quality, capacity, productivity, flexibility, and cost.
  • Establish and validate manufacturing performance targets, including OEE, throughput, yield, labor productivity, reliability, and energy consumption.
  • Lead equipment, tooling, automation, and supplier selection through standardized specifications, capability assessments, cybersecurity requirements, and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Develop and execute the smart manufacturing roadmap, including MES, SCADA, IIoT, robotics, machine vision, digital work instructions, production traceability, and AI-enabled manufacturing solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence through material flow optimization, intralogistics, constraint management, capacity planning, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Own regional manufacturing capital investment planning and execution, including business cases, investment requests, project governance, commissioning, and benefits realization.
  • Lead capacity, footprint, and network optimization initiatives, including make-versus-buy decisions, line transfers, consolidations, and facility expansions.
  • Establish manufacturing technology, OT/IT, data, connectivity, maintenance, and cybersecurity standards in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Embed sustainability, energy efficiency, and resource optimization into manufacturing system design and operations.
  • Build and develop a high-performing regional engineering organization while ensuring consistent implementation of approved standards, processes, and ways of working across North America facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of manufacturing engineering, automation, industrial engineering, or related experience, including 5+ years leading regional or multi-site operations.
  • Proven leadership of large technical teams and cross-functional stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated success delivering industrialization, automation, digital manufacturing, and capital project initiatives.
  • High-volume manufacturing experience and responsibility for major capital portfolios preferred.

Knowledges Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise in manufacturing system design, industrial engineering, lean operations, automation, and capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies, including AI, analytics, IIoT, MES/SCADA, robotics, and digital manufacturing.
  • Proven success driving productivity, reliability, cost, and operational performance improvements across multiple sites.
  • Strategic leader with strong financial acumen, change management experience, and a track record of developing high-performing teams and scalable solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder-influencing skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic transformation with day-to-day operational demands and move seamlessly between executive leadership and technical problem-solving
