Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Java Developer to join a newly formed pod focused on supporting and enhancing a suite of ACH-related service APIs and UI on our modernized SinglePoint corporate banking portal, a critical platform used by large corporate clients. This team plays a key role in improving customer satisfaction, increasing platform reliability, and accelerating delivery of customer-focused enhancements.

 

This is an AI-first, fast-paced engineering environment offering significant opportunities to grow technical expertise while working closely with Product Management, Customer Support, and across Payables engineering teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and support enterprise-grade Java applications, leveraging Java 17+, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices supporting ACH payment processing and customer-facing capabilities within the SinglePoint corporate banking platform.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, API, and transaction processing issues, implementing sustainable fixes that improve system stability and customer experience.

  • Develop and execute automated unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure high-quality, reliable software releases.

  • Monitor application health using tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics, proactively identifying performance bottlenecks and resiliency opportunities.

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Customer Support, Architects, Infrastructure teams, and cross-functional engineering partners in an Agile development environment.

  • Lead and mentor offshore developers and testers, promoting best practices in software engineering, performance tuning, automation, and code quality.

  • Contribute to platform modernization initiatives by driving reliability, scalability, observability, AI-assisted engineering adoption, and continuous improvement efforts.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Five to six years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Strong proficiency in Java (8/11/17+), Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices Architecture.

  • Experience designing and supporting high-volume, business-critical applications with a focus on performance, resiliency, and scalability.

  • Hands-on expertise with SQL, relational databases, query optimization, and transaction processing systems.

  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, and continuous delivery.

  • Proven ability to analyze application behavior using monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics.

  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, containerized deployments, and cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Familiarity with Kafka, event-driven architectures, performance engineering, and production support in complex distributed systems.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with experience working in Agile environments, regulated industries, financial services, AI-assisted development practices, and customer-focused engineering teams.

Location expectations 
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $111,605.00 - $131,300.00
